Weight: 30% of your grade for this course

Due:

· Draft: End of Week 6 - Post draft in forum for workshopping (5%)

· Workshop participation: Start of Week 7 to Wednesday of Week 8 (5%)

· Final paper: End of Week 8 (20%)

Length: at least 1000 words

Style: You must use the MLA documentation style

For this assignment, you will write a critical review.

Your critical review must be about the following article: Fernsten, Linda A. and Mary Reda. "Helping students meet the challenges of academic writing." Teaching in Higher Education 16.2 (2011): 171-82.

First, write a draft of the review and post it to the Assignment 1 Forum, where your fellow students will provide constructive criticism. Your instructor will also give you feedback on this draft, via individual e-mail contact (not forum posting).

You are required to read and comment on at least two of the reviews posted to the forum by other students.

Once you have received feedback from your instructor and peers, write a final version of your paper and submit it here, following the instructions for submission on the right side of this page.

Assignment 2: Literature Review

Weight: 40% of your grade for this course

Due:

· Draft literature review posted to forum for workshopping: end of Week 12 (10%)

· Workshop participation: All of Week 13 (5%)

· Final paper: End of Week 14 (25%)

Length: at least 2000 words (excluding the references list)

Style: You must use the APA documentation style

For this assignment, you will write a literature review.

Your literature review will be about a specific subject related to academic writing. Sometime during weeks 9-11, please check with the instructor about your chosen subject before starting research on it.

The literature review must source at least ten scholarly sources on your chosen research topic.

Write a draft of your paper and post it to the Assignment 2 Forum, where your fellow students will provide constructive criticism. Your instructor will also provide feedback, but separately, via e-mail (not in a discussion post).

You are required to read and comment on at least two of the reviews posted to the forum by other students.

Once you have received feedback from other students, write a final version of your paper and submit it here, following the instructions for submission on the right side of this page.
