RECYCLING OF PLASTIC WASTE PRODUCTS 3

Recycling Of Plastic Waste Products

Outline

1. Introduction: Thesis: People Should Recycle Plastics

Reasons as to why people should recycle plastics

· Recycling helps conserve limited resources

· To avoid the accumulation of plastic waste in the natural environment

· As a form of financial Income since it creates employment opportunities

· Recycling is energy efficient

2. Body

A. Effects of plastic debris in the environment and on wildlife

· Effects on humans: epidemiological and experimental evidence

· Production, usage, disposal and waste management solutions

· Biopolymers, degradable and biodegradable polymer solutions

B. Recycling is an important way to help us achieve sustainable development

· Recycling saves energy and reduces pollution

· Provides with the need for economic development, where standards of living improve

· It is essential due to the environment and the resources it provides for us.

· Recycling builds a strong economy

C. Recycling has become necessary because landfills are rapidly being closed and are causing increasingly more damage to the environment

· Landfills cause serious air and water pollution

· Decomposition of waste in landfills releases methane, which can kill vegetation as well as increase the spread of diseases such as hepatitis

· To manage the growing volume of solid waste it is necessary to turn to alternative methods such as recycling

D. It is necessary to be a wise consumer and determine what products you buy will help not hurt the environment.

· Recycle when you shop

· It is important as a consumer to purchase recycled goods

· Learn what is recyclable and what is not

3. Policy measures

· Statistics courtesy of Environmental Protection Agency Showing Composition of Solid Waste in the US

4. Plastics and the future

· Plastics are one of the most resource efficient and versatile materials available to society. Plastics make a significant contribution to the goals of sustainable development.

· Social progress: plastics provide affordable products giving more people access to higher standards of living, healthcare, and information

· Plastics make our lives safer: Airbags, seatbelts, baby seats, bike helmets, life jackets, and medical devices are just some examples of life-saving products made of plastic.

5. Conclusion

· Summary: Plastic can be recycled as fleece clothing so that we use less crude oil, the raw material required for plastic and a scarce resource that is running out. Different types of plastics have to be sorted out and this can be difficult. Recycling plastic also stops much of it ending up in landfill sites

· Concluding Device: People should remember that we are no longer living in the 1990s and therefore, recycling is for every person interested in living in a clean environment and not just for hippies.
