Final Argumentative Research Paper
Due Date: Monday, Dec 1
Introduction:
Over the course of this semester, you have written an an annotated bibliography, a paper presenting the best arguments to support your position, and a paper arguing the antithesis (opposite) of your own position. Throughout this process, I imagine that many of your thesis statements have gone through some adjustments. Now, it’s time to take your refined thesis statement and the other essays that you have written and turn them into one cohesive argumentative, researched essay.
Assignment:
For this final research paper, you will use the work you did on the other assignments to craft a thorough argumentative research paper supporting your position on a controversial issue. Use what you have already written in your previous essays, and don’t hesitate to add, cut, revise, or expand arguments to support your thesis in the most compelling way possible. Remember that this will be a single-minded, cohesive paper. Ensure that it reads as such. Do not just cut and paste your old papers together and add something.
Guidelines
· As you write, think about using ethos, pathos, and logos effectively for your topic and your audience.
· You may use a traditional/classical format, a Rogerian format, or some combination of the two.
· Length: at least 8 FULL pages, not including the Works Cited page
· Use MLA format, including a Works Cited page (look this up on the Purdue OWL) and the heading.
· Include at least 10 sources, divided between scholarly and popular as necessary.
