Topic: Death Penalty and capital punishment

Open: The death penalty has always faced much opposition. Can the death penalty possibly be a morally acceptable punishment? A popular bumper sticker says, "We kill people to show people that killing people is wrong." The slogan is short, simple, and to the point. But is there really such irony in capital punishment as the slogan implies?

End: The death penalty has no benefit, whether one looks at it from a moral or material perspective. Killing a murderer does nothing more than perpetuate the cycle of violence and killing.
