Recommended Action (3 short, declarative sentences using action verbs)

First sentence: State the issue and its causes.

Second sentence: State your recommendation, which is the action you feel will best address the issue.

Third sentence: State how your recommended action would ultimately address the issue.

Issues (1 intro paragraph plus 1 paragraph per assignment question)

This section is the body of the memo and where you will answer the questions put forth to you in the case study assignment. You must address all of the questions.

Paragraph #1: Provide a background and overview of the problem. (What prompted you to write this memo?) Next, explain your recommendations. (Why should the recommended action be authorized? What is the rationale for taking this action? What is the probable effect of taking this action? What will be accomplished? What are the advantages and disadvantages of pursuing this action?)

Paragraph #2 – Answer Question #1. Despite limited space, you should provide thorough answers to each question. Answer each question as clearly and concretely as possible. Use information from the case to provide as much evidence you can for each of your answers.

Paragraph #3 – “ Question #2

Paragraph #4 – “ Question #3, etc.

Options

Here, you will give 2 alternative actions to the action you recommended above. The options may contradict your recommended actions. Regardless, they must be plausible alternatives that your manager might choose to authorize. Describe each option in declarative sentences. Discuss the pros and cons of pursuing each option.

Implementation

This paragraph suggests the mission critical tasks involved in carrying out your recommended action. Outline the first several steps necessary in order to move forward, as well as one or two medium- to long-range steps that should be taken.
