animals deserve to live free without the fear to be killed or slaughtered by humans who do not have conscious about animal rights.
One of the worst things I consider cruel, is the slaughter of animals and the use of their skin to make fancy clothes. It is through cruelty that these animals are killed, where they are drugged and their skin taken off them while still alive. Such horrific acts must be stopped. According to PETA-an organization that supports animal rights, millions of animals are killed annually for use in the clothing industry all this being done because of fashion. It is regardless whether these clothes originate from Australia, Chinese fur farms or Indian slaughterhouse because the amount of suffering that goes into each fur-trimmed jacket; leather belt of wool sweater is immeasurable (Simmons 1). As we can see, animals are being killed every year just because there are people who considered fashion to be wearing of jackets or clothes made of animal skins. Such people should think and consider the pain and suffering they cause the animals every time they buy these clothes. I personally don’t buy these things because in my point of view, we don’t have the right to massacre animals especially only to satisfy fashion needs.
We witness abuse of animals today in places like farms, Zoos and Circuses. It is indeed sickening to see animals treated in such mannerism, where they are kept in big cages without freedom. Farms are places where animals are killed every day for people’s consumption; the worst thing being that they are treated miserably and locked in cages before their death. PETA indicates that, most egg-laying hens are usually subjected to cruel living conditions, where they are put in cages termed as batteries. Such cages are usually too small that even one hen could not have the capacity to fully stretch its wings (Regan 2). It is unbelievable how animals are treated in farms hence my stand against this cruelty and urging of people consider doing something in order to end this abuse. Furthermore, sometimes animals are hit till they die or sometimes little chicks are tossed alive into big grinding machines simply because they are male species and cannot lay eggs. In the same way, animals in Zoos and circuses are treated with cruelty and exploited by their owners. These innocent animals are deprived off their freedom with their only purpose being to entertain people. I recently watched a video where I clearly saw all this cruelty and abuse towards innocent animals. I still cannot understand why there is too much hate towards animals that are living things and deserve to leave freely without being slaughtered.
In addition, animals are not only used to make cloths, but also used for experimentation in research laboratories. These animals are tortured and beaten if they resist the procedure of the experiments. According to PETA, there are always a number of rabbits, cats, dogs, mice and other animals locked up in science laboratories across the country. Such animals endure much suffering as they are usually lonely and lack the freedom to use their mind or even roam. They are in a constant state of fear, oblivious of the following procedure that may be terrifying and painful. They sometimes die because they are injected with things that their bodies cannot support. Also rabbits are used as cosmetology experiments to test their products; they use their sensible eyes to prove the quality of their products. However, they die or lose their vision because they go through so much pain (Simons 2). It is amazing what we humans do just to get the best products, best experiments results or money at any cost. They are killing and making innocent animals to suffer. Animals unfortunately can’t talk and defend themselves. They don’t have the voice to say we don’t want to get killed or be used as experiments. I’m completely against all these cruelties and believe that we all should be treating them equally. If scientists want to do experiment or companies want to test their products, they should pick volunteers but do not use animals because they cannot decide for their lives.
Lastly, another thing that I personally dislike is hunting because it affects many things such as our ecosystem. There are People who practice it as a sport or consider it as fun. They don’t think about our ecosystem that every time they kill a deer or any animal they are affecting the place we live in Earth. In the journal “Hunting without permission” it is stated, “Hunting affects the biosphere, which is where the living organisms exist, it affects the biosphere because wildlife is directly related to the biosphere and hunting disrupts natural order”. Here clearly we see that hunting it is affecting our Earth because what would happen if all this living organisms would go to extinction that will clean our environment, we will not have clean air anymore. Also, there are many hunters who hunt just for fun without caring about their prey living them wound or dead in the woods. According to a member of the Maine Bow Hunters Alliance, approximately half of the animals that are usually shot by crossbows in hunting expeditions do not die, but remain wounded. A study conducted on 80 radio-collared white-tailed deer showed 11 of the 22 deer shot by traditional archery were wounded but not recovered” (Roman 3). This is a cruel act that should stop and not considered a sport because these people are killing innocent animals, and at the same time putting them on the risk of extinction. In my opinion, we have to protect our ecosystem because every animal has a special function in our world. We need to take care of our habitat. People who hunt animals just for fun to entertain them selves are careless people without feelings who practice this “sport” without judgment.
Animal abuse is a serious issue that has become a social problem that keeps increasing every day. The population is blinded to this issue and similarly not taking action on it. There are many abused animals that are sick and helpless but neither the government nor people do anything because they are oblivious of their responsibility. It is then that animals suffer because of humans’ need where they are used as raw material for food, entertainment and sport, the manufacture of clothing or simply to be used as a means of study for science experiments. Most alarming is that instead of going steady; the number of animals suffering this abuse is increasing rapidly. Animals have no voice, cannot make demands or judicial accusations of mistreatment and abuse. This is one of the cruelest acts performed by men. Abusers of animals are in the advantage due to the helpless and voiceless state of the animals, which cannot defend themselves against such acts of atrocity. Of course things would have been significantly different if the animals had the ability to converse and effectively express themselves to humans in more elaborate ways. It is time to start doing something about this cruelty, as we should start to think about every animal that is suffering. We all need to have compassion for animals; we need to take care of them because if we don’t one day they are going to be extinct. Maybe we humans are inhibiting their planet and destroying them at the same time, but we also have the power to stop this cruelty and take action about it.
