Materials/ Apparatus

· What materials were used in the experiment? (e.g. PowerPoint 2007, paper/pencil, etc.)

Procedure

· Starting with the informed consent procedure, walk the reader through the steps of the experiment.

Data Analysis

· State the type of test you will be conducting to compare the groups.

Results (6 points)

· What did the experiment propose to test? (i.e. the hypothesis; see “explanation of in-class experiment”)

· Write a summary statement

· Independent variable and dependent variable

· Descriptive statistics (M = __, SD = __) for both groups

· Were the results significant? If so, how did the groups differ?

· Report Results in APA format:

· Example:

“Researchers thought that retention of newly learned skills might be affected by sleep after learning. After learning a new task, half of the subjects slept at least six hours and the others were kept awake all night. Participants who slept at least 6 hours scored significantly higher (M = 72, SD = 7.93) than those who stayed awake all night (M = 61, SD = 8.07) on a visual discrimination task learned the previous day (t (14) = 2.75, p = .025).”
