IS HUMAN NATURE GOOD AS THEY SAY IT?
Humanity is about respecting oneself and respecting all the other people on the basis that we are all human beings and none is better than the other. In the recent past years, cases of murder, rape, adultery, homosexuality and divorces have increased and in my opinion, that is not humanity.
Thesis Statement
Human nature involves respecting one’s body and that of others. If human nature is good enough then homosexuality is not right.
Rape is a major problem in America
Rape is normally sexual assault involving intercourse and all other sexual activities initiated against the will of those individuals. Different people rape for different reasons but none of the reasons is an enough excuse for such a behavior. Those who rape are normally frustrated and they may not be getting the sexual favors they need and therefore, they take them by force and others just lack self –control.
Rape has a lot of side effects and to make it clear, both men and women can be raped. This actions normally causes trauma to the victim and most the time they end up hating the opposite sex. Also there are risk if one is raped and they include the risk of unwanted pregnancy if the victim is a woman, risk of contracting STIs and also HIV/Aids. Women are much affected when raped than men and they are normally stressed and these goes on for quit a long time in their lives (Denov, 2004).
To reduce the raping problem, the offenders should be reported immediately to the authority and the right action taken. All the other precautions is up to the individuals, if you feel that someone is up to something close to rape then you shouldn’t give them a chance to be with you alone.
Gay couples should not be allowed to marry.
Homosexuality is sex with a person of the same gender and some people believe that they are biologically programmed only to like people of their gender and have intimate relationship. This relationships of recent late have led a lot of discussion about the marriage institution. Some countries and some states here in the United States have legalized the gay marriages but most people are still against.
In my opinion, gay couples should not be allowed to marry. There are many reasons as to why I condemn marriages between men and men or women and women. One of the reasons is that, that is against the law of nature. In the creation stories, when man was alone and lonely, God created a woman for him and told him, she will be your companion. This means that if a man needs a companion, then she should be a woman and not a fellow man. Another reason is that gay couples will not raise children on their own and for a fact, how will the children feel, when they are told that your mother is a man and so is your father.
Raising children in gay marriages will be a problem. A child needs both a mother who is a female and a father figure who is a male for them to grow well in three dimensions; psychologically, physically and intellectually. Having both parents of the same sex will affect the child’s growth psychologically furthermore, the child will adopt the behavior of being gay not by choice but mainly because of what they see at home (Boswell, 1980).
Prostitution should not be legalized.
Prostitution is the business of engaging into sexual relationship with other people for payment. It is a business that has grown over the years and some countries have been forced to legalize it and they pay taxes as any other business contributing to economic growth.
Prostitution should not be legalized because it is not the way human beings should live. If human beings will keep having sex with different people for payment every day, then there is no difference between them and the animals. At some point I think animals are even better because they don’t ask for payment after having sex. Legalization of prostitution will break marriages and further damaging the marriage institution that is currently suffering due to high rates of divorce. Married men will be soliciting sexual favors from these prostitutes and when they come back home they are tired and they cannot grant their wives the conjugal rights and since women also have needs, they will be forced to look for male prostitutes and one thing will lead to another and that will be the end of that marriage.
Also youths who are above 17 years old will sure afford these prostitutes and this will be a disaster to them that may end up ruining their lives. They will lose concentration in class and start performing poorly, they will get poor grades that will not even get them to universities or colleges and therefore, they will not have good jobs. That is a future that no one wants to have, but with legalization of prostitution, some youths will have such a future. Legalization of prostitution will also lead to degradation in morality and sex will lose its meaning. Just but a reminder, sex was meant to be sacred, an action only allowed to couple that have been married. Sex is not a business opportunity, to make lives better and boost the economy, because that is not respecting oneself, and others.
Is marriage a doomed Institution?
In my opinion, marriage is not a doomed institution and this because, marriage has been there since time immemorial and it will continue to be there. Marriage has so many challenges and it is not all about love, for a marriage to stand, but it needs money, trust, sacrifice and understanding to stand. The challenges in marriages have led to divorce and the divorces have been so many that others have started predicting that marriage will not be there in the next thirty or so years.
The reason why there are high rates in divorce is because nowadays people don’t take their time before they marry. They rush into things thinking that marriage is so fun to be in, and eventually they realize that they made a mistake and now they want a way out. Long before, possibly before the 90s, people used to court for years before deciding to marry. This was advantageous because one gets to know their partners better, in and out, how they think, where they come from, what they like and their weakness. Understanding their weaknesses and loving them the way they are is love and knowing these weaknesses before marriage is essential (Schneider, 1984).
The only alternative for marriage is stay to stay single and only a few people can manage this. This therefore, means that the rest of the people will have to take their time before deciding to engage in marriage. They should perfectly understand that marriage has its ups and downs and they should be ready to face these times that they feel they don’t want to talk to each other like adults. Marriage is not a doomed institution, it’s the people who engage in it when they are not ready, which is something no one should do, you can go for war without being ready to face your opponent. Those who want to engage in marriage, should ensure they are ready to face life together and live to fulfill the words they swear on the altar, ‘till death do us part.’
Are Traditional families are better than contemporary families?
The family is the basic unit of any nation or society and these families determine the kind of society a certain nation has and success in families is success to the nation as a whole. There are two types of families and they are; traditional and the contemporary families. Traditional families are the large families and they are normally extended to accommodate grandparents, aunts and uncles. Contemporary families are nuclear families consisting of parents and children.
Traditional families has the following advantages over contemporary families; children are able to see and live with their close relatives who are the cousins and grandparents. Also there is no point one will be lonely since there are many people in the same compound. Raising children in the traditional families is easier and there is respect because of the elderly. There are fewer cases of children from traditional families engaging in activities such as addiction to pornography, video games and social media because most of the time they have to be together doing something that will help them all (Schneider, 1984).
Contemporary families on the other hand have privacy. They are not as expensive as the traditional families. Also there is no dependence on a particular person as in the traditional families. In my opinion, contemporary families are better traditional families because, the good book says that a man shall live his father and mother and be united with his wife. This means moving from the parent’s house and having your own house (Forbes, 2005).
Conclusion
Human nature should be respected. Rape, prostitution and divorce are things that degrade human beings.
