ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION
In this assignment you will use Microsoft PowerPoint to create an effective presentation. You will also use Office Integration to link and embed information contained in a separate Word document.
Create your PowerPoint presentation on one of the 9 topics listed below: Depending on the first letter of your family name. Examples; Student with name “Eric Smith”, will do section S-T.
Computer Hardware: Types of RAM and HDD (A-C)
Computer Software: Common OS and Applications (D-F)
Modems: DSL, Cable and 3G/4G (G-I)
Cloud Computing: IAAS vs PAAS vs SAAS (J-L)
Protocols: SMTP, POP and IMAP (M-O)

iOS, Androids and Windows Phone (S-U)
P2P & client server (V-X)
MSOffice 365 vs Google Docs vs iCloud Pages (Y-Z)
Note #1: You need to fill up the CHECKLIST (A4_Checklist.docx) and answer all the questions provided in a separate word document that you can download from the ICM portal.
Note #2: The content of your assignment must be in accordance with the rules, regulations and policies of the International College of Manitoba and the University of Manitoba.
Note #3: Do not include any personal information in your presentation that you would not want to be made public.
Note #4: You may (and probably should) use course notes and readings for the presentation, but remember to reference the material properly.
Note #5: There is no sample PowerPoint for your reference. You will receive a grade for the features used in your PowerPoint and the quality of your content. To receive full marks, you should create your content in each slide carefully and use all the features described below, but you are not limited to these features.

PRESENTATION SPECIFICATIONS
Follow the 18 features below to prepare your PowerPoint. Note that the features need not all be on different slides.
BASICS
1. Download the template presentation from the following Google Drive link https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2JY8ogt5wbwcVVpYnRuemgwcWc/view?usp=sharing . Download the file, rename it as your assignment file and continue working on it.
2. The presentation should be between 14–17 slides in length. This total should not include the title slide and the acknowledgements slide.
3. Your presentation should contain three different installed themes, which means your PowerPoint will have three different Slide Masters. There are about 4 or 5 slides under each theme. Note the names of the themes chosen in the CHECKLIST. You will find the name of each theme under the Slide Master View.
4. Use three different icons on each slide master. In the first section, the template has a unique logo at the left margin of the slide. Do not remove this image.
5. Create two images using your Firstname using WordArt or from www.cooltext.com . Add these images to the second and third secto section. The image should be located at the right margin of the slides. The images should be in two different color combinations. One in dark color on white background and the other in white color on a dark background. Rotate the image at 90 degrees clockwise.
6. Add the slides under each of the three different themes into three different sections. Rename the three sections properly.
7. Use a minimum of 6 different slide layouts for all your slides. The layouts used should include, but not limited to:
a title slide layout
at least one comparison layout
at least one a title and content layout
at least one section header layout.
at least one picture with caption 8. The first slide is a title slide that includes both a title and a sub-title; the sub-title should contain
just your full name. No image should appear on this slide. 9. The last slide in your presentation is an acknowledgements slide. On this slide you should
acknowledge the sources for any of the content in your presentation. For example, if you consulted web pages for factual information, you should provide the URL to those pages; if you obtained ClipArt from the web or some other source; provide a reference to the source. Any graphics, which you have created yourself, or images from your own sources such as digital cameras, etc. should also be acknowledged here. You should have at least two acknowledgments and at least two hyperlinks on this page.
10. Make at least two other changes to the format of all three slide masters you used.
HEADERS AND FOOTERS
11. Add footers to the slides showing the slide number and a running (i.e. abbreviated) title, including the author (use the same name as in the subtitle of the title slide), of the presentation. Do not show the footers on the title slide.

12. Include the current date (it should update automatically) on the title slide (but not on any of the other slides).
13. Add headers to the Handouts showing the title of the presentation and the due date of the assignment as a fixed date.
GRAPHICS 14. Include at least one SmartArt, one WordArt, one ClipArt and one image, in addition to the small
icon on the slide masters, in the presentation. They may appear on the same slide.
ANIMATIONS
15. Apply only one Transition effect to all slides in the presentation. Note the name of the transition chosen.
16. Apply Custom Animation to at least one slide. Note the name of the animation effect chosen. (If you have multiple effects, note the first one that appears in the Animation Pane.)
OFFICE INTEGRATION
For this part of the assignment, you must prepare a one-page Word document. The content of the Word document must be appropriate to the theme of your presentation. You may use existing documents as long as they meet the size requirements below.
17. Prepare your one-page Word document under the outline view by using at least three different heading levels (level 1, 2 and 3) which will become the title, points and sub-points in the slide. The page should contain one heading 1 for the title of the slide, two heading 2 for points on the slide and two heading 3 for sub-points. Then create the new slide by importing the one-page Word document. Upload this Word document to the portal as part of your assignment #4.
OTHER
18. Add Speaker's Notes to at least one slide. 19. Hide one slide of your PowerPoint. 20. Add a clip art audio from office.com to at least one slide. Trim the audio to 10 seconds if its
duration is longer than that.
DOCUMENT NAME AND SIZE SPECIFICATIONS
The size of your PowerPoint document should not exceed 2MB; the size of your Word document should not exceed 100KB.
Name your PowerPoint document as Firstname_ Lastname_A4.pptx. Name your Word document as Firstname_Lastname_A4.docx. Convert your Checklist Word file to PDF and name it as Firstname_Lastname_A4Checklist.pdf.
