Extra  Credit  Opportunity  

As  mentioned  in  class,  I  am  providing  an  opportunity  to  earn  up  to  2.00%  of  the  final  course   grade  as  extra  credit.  In  other  words,  if  you  end  up  with  an  unadjusted  grade  percentage  of  (say)   88%,  this  would  provide  you  the  opportunity  to  earn  a  final,  adjusted  grade  of  up  to  90%.  The   grading  for  the  additional  2.00%  will  be  as  follows:  

• Up  to  1.00%  for  reasonable  responses  to  the  following  questions.  This  does  not  mean   you  have  to  study  each  page  of  your  selected  paper  from  those  provided,  but  you  will   have  to  read  it  with  enough  care  so  as  to  provide  answers  that  demonstrate  you   considered  both  the  paper  and  related  questions  below.    

• Up  to  another  1.00%  for  thoughtful  and  insightful  answers  that  “wow”  me.  This  is  a   completely  qualitative  measure  of  your  answers.    

There  is  no  page  count  requirement.  In  fact,  shorter,  more  concise  answers  are  best.  In  many   ways,  it  is  much  more  challenging  to  create  something  unique  with  less  page  count…  

There  are  currently  five  papers  housed  in  the  Resources  section  of  T-­‐square.  Please  pick  one  of   the  five  to  work  with.  You  are  also  welcome  to  find  others,  but  please  pre-­‐approve  any  alternate   choices  with  me  prior  to  starting.  

Questions  to  answer:  

1. What  is  the  problem  that  the  project  is  trying  to  answer?   2. Why  do  the  authors  suggest  the  problem  is  important?   3. How  do  the  authors  approach  addressing  the  problem?     4. What  are  the  results?   5. How  does  the  project  relate  to  what  you  have  learned  in  this  class  (or  any  other  of  your  

classes)?   6. What  are  some  implications  that  you  learned  in  reading  the  paper  that  might  affect  your  

career?  In  other  words,  what  did  you  learn  that  you  could  use  in  the  future?   7. Any  questions  you  have  after  reading  the  paper  and/or  anything  you  found  particularly  

interesting?  

The  EC  is  due  into  T-­‐square  on  Tuesday,  December  9th  at  11:59pm.
