Proposal
Overview
Typically, proposals are broken down into 6 main sections: Introduction, Problem, Objectives, Solution, Schedule and Costs. Oftentimes, you may also include sections on Method, Qualification, Management, and Resources. Depending on what you’re proposing, your proposal may focus more heavily on certain sections than others.
Guidelines
You may write this paper individually or with a partner, and the proposal should specifically address a problem that was researched in the Analytical Report. you should write your proposal based on your Analytical Report topic.
1. Your Proposal should be composed of these five sections: Introduction, Problem, Objectives, Solution, and Schedule. Include Costs if that’s a relevant topic for your proposal.
2. Follow the guidelines*******
3. Single space the document and have a title page.
4. If you use the same resources from your AR, you don’t need a Reference page. However, if you find/use new resources, please include a Reference page at the end of the document.
5. When you cite sources within the document, make sure you use parenthetical reference.

1. Always fairly short
1. Introduce the general topic and purpose
1. Who is the audience and why should they care.
1. Gives a general outline of proposal sections.
1. DO NOT REVEAL THE SOLUTION.
1. Problem ( 1 page to 1.5 page)
1. The most important section in the report.
1. Define and describe the problem in a way that sets up the solution.
1. DOESN’T STATE THE SOLUTION
1. Describe the problem with audience in mind.
1. What the various ramifications of the problem / solution
1. Objectives ( 0.25 to 0.5 page, a bullet list and it’s the trickiest)
1. Of all possible solutions, what are the characteristics of an ideal solution?
1. Hypothetical solution, not your solution.
1. Should stem from the problems discussed.
1. Solution ( a paragraph or two, it might be as long as the problem section above)
1. Propose the solution (simplicity)
1. Show how your solution meets the objectives in the most desirable way.
