Introduction

This project is focused on addressing various problems that are encountered by businesses during their operations and expansion. It focuses on specific common problems that virtually all businesses face in their quest to achieve higher profit margins, customer/client satisfaction Comment by DeVry Inc: This project Comment by DeVry Inc: Which is it? Some of the major problems that many businesses face in their day to day running of business include; failure to use technology, lack of appropriate technology, the use of obsolete technology, marketing challenges, resource management, problem solution mechanisms and common uncertainties, communication problems. It is suffice to note that these and many other problems can be solved by merely employing the right technology in doing business. The issue for concern is what the right technology would be, and what exact problems will its use address in the day to day running of the business. The issue of cost may also be a problem to be considered. All these concerns are addressed in this proposal. The following are some of the specific approaches that technology may be applied to business. Comment by DeVry Inc: Do you mean “sufficient”?

Communications tools and mediums.

Communication is vital tool in life, both in business and in personal life. The art of good communication involves both speed and efficiency of passing messages across. Communication in a business is vital in helping decision making and problem solving. Technology has boosted communication in business by enabling the use of emails, mobile phones, chatting, and other technological advancements. A company should therefore strive to provide its employees with good quality communication devices e.g. tablets and android mobile phones. This will ensure that customer queries and concerns are responded to in a timely and effective manner. Lack of good communication devices will lead to poor communication which in turn leads to customer dissatisfaction and ultimately losses will accrue. On the other hand good communication devices like video conference facilities enable a business to cut down on time and travel expenses while at the same time ensuring that requisite communication is made.

Interactive Media and networks.

The use of social media has enabled many businesses reach customers with each. Previously, social media was largely used for personal communications and other personal uses. However, with the vast coverage the use of social media has, there has emerged a personalized approach that businesses can have to ensure that they reach their existing customers and also attract new customers. Companies create profiles on social media platforms and use such platforms to reach the customers on a very confidential and personalized manner. (Kooser 2014)

Internet Use and Advertising.

The internet is a crucial tool in modern day business. Internet use involves the creation of websites, blogs or other tools that can be used to reach and address potential and existing customers. The use of internet is employed to respond to questions, give informative communication as well as a medium for making extra sales. (Amanda 2014)

DSS

Also known as decision making software. These are software’s that are programmed to specifically analyze data and come up with accurate predictions on the possible outcome of certain things. There are useful decision making tools in any organisations and should be utilized for the success of a business. Association Tools and systems.

These are software’s whose main functions are to enable a linkage between several branches of one company. For example a business can engage the headquarters and other branches within the vicinity to collaborate in the sending and delivery of documents and other media. These tools help in saving time and money that is involved in travelling. (Page 2014)

E.R.P (Enterprise Resource Planning)

These are tools that are used to link various departments of a company. The human resource, accounts, finance, legal and administration departments can employ the use of ERPs to facilitate business and communication by shortening the time required to make decisions and communication. This will enhance customer service and will ensure that customers are attended to efficiently and in a timely manner. It will also ensure that intra company affairs are handled confidentially and effectively. (Page 2014)

Conclusion.

Although this list is not exhaustive of the possible measures that can be employed to foster the success of a business by using technology, this list has nevertheless outlined some of the most crucial ways in which any company can ensure that it does not lag behind in adopting appropriate technology and consequently that it does not lose out to competitors., additionally, the use of the aforementioned practices will enhance customer loyalty which will ultimately ensue that the business remains viable and profitable.
