Excel Assignment No. 4: Using the Payment Function

Calculate the following information:

Search the internet to purchase the following items using the 3 scenarios listed below.

SCENARIO NO.1 – Assume you are a Broker. Provide the following information for you client.

Purchase a Car: Your client is the CEO of a high tech business and she requires a new car. She has hired your brokerage company to find her suitable transportation for business. She entertains and meets with many foreign business people so company image is important. At times she will drive the car and at other times she will use a company driver.

1. Determine your down payment.

2. Determine what your bank loan will be.

3. Calculate the interest rate and make sure the Rate is describe and displayed when you format your assignment. DO NOT USE an Internet purchase calculator. This MUST be calculated in Excel.

4. Calculate what you monthly payments would if the loan was amortized over the following terms.

a. 3 years

b. 5 years

c. 7 years

5. Provide 3 different car prices.

6. Provide 3 various rate calculations

7. Provide 3 various down payment options.

8. Investigate and use the bank prime rate in your calculations.

9. Describe in summary form what will be purchased.

10. Insert the three photographs into your client Excel presentation sheets.

SCENARIO NO. 2 - Assume you are a Yacht Broker. Provide the following information for you client.

Purchase a Sailboat: Your client is the owner of a manufacturing business and he would like to purchase another larger sailboat/yacht for personal use. He currently owns a C&C 27 ft. sailboat. He has hired your yacht brokerage company to find a suitable sailboat/yacht. He would like his next boat to sleep between 6 and 13 people. Use his current sailboat as a trade-in. The trade-in value will be 25% of the new purchase. You may also recommend to your client an increased down payment amount. Calculate this value and clearly display it in your quote.

1. Determine the trade-in value and calculate the down payment.

2. Determine what your bank loan will be.

3. Calculate the interest rate and make sure the Rate is describe and displayed when you format your assignment. DO NOT USE an Internet purchase calculator. This MUST be calculated in Excel.

4. Calculate what you monthly payments would if the loan was amortized over the following terms.

a. 10 years

b. 15 years

c. 20 years

5. Provide 3 different Yacht/Sailboat prices.

6. Provide 3 various rate calculations

7. Provide 3 various down payment options.

8. Investigate and use the bank prime rate in your calculations.

10. Insert the three photographs into your client Excel presentation sheets.

SCENARIO NO. 3 - Assume you are a Purchasing Agent & Broker. Provide the following information for you client. Your Client, the Rolling Stones have hired your brokerage company to find and provide information on the purchase of a jet aircraft for the group, and an entourage of 10 other people for their next world tour. The aircraft must be able to fly across the Atlantic Ocean without stopping for fuel. You must investigate the flying distances/times of the recommended aircraft. Normal flying time from New York to London in a commercial aircraft is normally 4 hours.

Purchase a Jet Aircraft for Your Client.

1. Determine your down payment.

2. Determine what your bank loan will be.

3. Calculate the interest rate and make sure the Rate is describe and displayed when you format your assignment. DO NOT USE an Internet purchase calculator. This MUST be calculated in Excel.

4. Calculate what you monthly payments would if the loan was amortized over the following terms.

a. 15 years

b. 20 years

c. 30 years

5. Provide 3 different quotes for this aircraft purchase.

6. Provide 3 various rate calculations.

7. Provide 3 various down payment options.

8. Investigate and use the bank prime rate in your calculations. Use Canadian Bank rates.

9. Describe in summary form what will be purchased.

10. Insert the three photographs into your client Excel presentation sheets.

NOTE: Compile our presentation package and print it.

A. Create a cover page for your presentation with your student in formation. Create a name for your Brokerage Company and display it on the cover page. Also title it Excel Assignment No. 4.

B. B/W copies will be suitable.

C. Insert your company name in the footer

D. Create or use a clipart image for your logo. It should also be incorporated into you presentation package.

E. Create an invoice for your services.

a. Your broker fees will be calculated as a flat 14.35% on the total price of each of the 3 scenarios. Select and use only 1 of the 3 quotes for each of the three scenarios. IE; 1 brokerage fee for the car purchase, 1 fee for the yacht/sailboat purchase and 1 fee for the aircraft purchase.

b. Create your brokerage company’s address.

c. Create an address for each of you three clients.

d. Include a GST tax of 6% in your quotes and calculate the results.

e. Clearly display all of the financial information for you client’s inspection.
