Design Project

Due: Dec. 02, 2014

Design a Smart Energy Grid for the city of Schererville, Indiana, United States.

10% power from a solar farm

20% from wind farm

70% from coal fired power generator

20% storage capacity (battery or Fuel cell or Hydrogen)

Industrial load: 80% of maximum capacity, 3-phase

Residential Load: 20% of maximum capacity, 1-phase

Survey data, design and select components, equipments and instruments by naming the make, model, specifications and prices if available. Propose an architecture of a computer control and command for the smart grid.

Prepare a written report and the PowerPoint presentation on your project, all are due on Dec. 02nd at 11:00 am.

Each student is required to do a solo project and present in 15 minutes to the whole class on Dec. 02nd.
