EGMT 410 - Operations Research

Fall 2014

Final Project – Due 12/1/2014 (Midnight)

1. Identify a type of professional registration (Professional Engineering (P.E.), Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma, etc.) that you feel may be useful in the career that you plan to pursue. A list of different types of professional registrations may be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professional_certification#Professional_certificates_awarded_by_universities .

2. Research the process for becoming professionally registered in the field that you specify. Identify the registration agency, determine any educational requirements, waiting times, exams that must be taken, minimal exam scores, etc. Your write-up (at least one page) should provide someone that is reading it with enough information that they should not have to read any external sources.

3. Provide a write-up (at least 2 paragraphs) on the benefits of becoming professional registered: salary increases, employment opportunities, classification or grade increases, etc. You should address the questions of, “why should I become professional registered.”

4. Create a PowerPoint presentation and present a brief (5-10 minutes) oral presentation on your findings. Your oral presentation is to be submitted as a video file or narrated PowerPoint file. There are several options to record your video lecture. Email a link or video file to the instructor for the presentation submission.

1. Google Hangouts - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cikPXK0ttzI

2. Narrated PowerPoint - http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/powerpoint-help/re-record-a-voice-narration-HP005248353.aspx

Your paper and presentation will be evaluated using the following three rubrics:

1. Written communication

2. Professional registration

3. Oral Communication
