GENERAL PURPOSE: TO PERSUADE
SPECIFIC PURPOSE:
The following general outline incorporates the steps of the Motivated Sequence. Per the assignment, please organize your speech using this outline to incorporate each step of the sequence. You are required to address each of the 5 steps of the process in your outline and your presentation. You may decide to organize the steps in the sequence in different parts of the speech (Introduction/Body/Conclusion). However, you will need to show each step in your outline. After you have completed your outline, please insert the video link and attach it to the Assignment File. Please attach a duplicate copy to the Week 5 Required Learning Activity Presentation Outline and Video Link.
Remember, the need for a strong attention getting opening statement and a brief, but powerful, closing action step, In order to develop the effective action step, you should identify the audience you are trying to persuade so your action steps will meet their needs. In this Motivated Sequence, you should accomplish the following steps throughout your speech (each step should be clearly recognizable in your written outline and in your oral presentation): Fill in all parts of the outline for each step. [Explanation of Satisfaction Step: Now that you have created/ aroused a need or made your audience aware of a need, you should provide a way for them to satisfy their need. You might refer to practical experience, theoretical support, meet objections] B. MY VISUALIZATION STEP IS (Visualize for audience the world with and without my proposed satisfaction) :
[Explanation of Visualization Step. This step is very important because you are going to verbally "put" your audience in the situation you have provided through visualization. Visualization is very important in persuasion. In this speech, you should actually visualize the audience's world or their environment for them if they accept your proposed plan / action. How will they benefit? How will their interests be served, etc?
You should also reinforce this step by visualizing for them what the world/ their environment might look like if they do not accept your plan/proposal/solution/ action step. ]
