Individual Routine Letter Assignment 1
Situation
Your name is Courtney Lewis and you were recently hired as the special events manager at
BareEssentials. You need to find a resort hotel with conference facilities. This meeting requires a large
assembly type room and four smaller meeting rooms (equal distribution of total attendees). You are
expecting 270 sales associates. You hope to arrange our conference in the month of November, from
the second to the fourth. Most of the associates will be flying in, so they will need transportation to and
from the airport. Due to the fact that we will be making electronic presentations you need to ensure
that the resort has audiovisual equipment for presentations in the rooms and computer facilities. Your
letter will be sent to the Planning Facilities Manager at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino at 3600 South Los
Vegas Boulevard in Las Vegas, NV 89109. Also, this hotel has a Tuscany Exhibition Kitchen for team-
building activities that you need information about.

needed. Consider … a. What is the topic/purpose of this letter? b. What is the message of the letter? c. What is the action I or others need to do? d. What content needs/does not need to be in the letter? e. What (if any) information may be missing and required? Create as necessary. f. Is information in the proper location? g. Is the Opening, Body and Closing content developed properly? h. Is the Opening, Body and Closing content presented effectively? i. Create an appropriate letterhead.
3. Consider reviewing the appropriate Lecture Capture recordings, the PowerPoint presentation on routine letters and your participation with the team letter development exercises. These will help with determining Format Issues, what is necessary and not necessary, and Opening, Body and Closing considerations.
4. Professor Corte will be in his office on Friday, November 7, 2014 from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. to review drafts and/or discuss your approach for this assignment.
