CCJ5489 Week 3 Course Project

The class project will be broken into six parts. Four research projects where you will collect reference material, an outline of the project and completion of the entire paper. The final paper will be 15-20 pages, with at least 12 sources.

As a method of initiating your research for this course project, an examination of some of the available literature on the topic will be initiated.

You will need to assemble a short bibliography in proper APA format for the following two areas:

• Collect at least three quality sources that detail the actual events leading up to and during the 9/11 attacks.

• Collect at least three quality articles that detail the U.S. response in the few months following 9/11.

Assemble these articles into a bibliography in proper APA format.

Abstract

This is part one of my final project. The events of September 11, 2001 was devastating all around. I will provide three sources which will be detailed to actual events leading up to and during the 9/11 attacks. I will also provide three articles which detail how the U.S. responded in the months which followed.

Washington, D.C.: National Commission on Terrorist Attacks upon the United States.

The national commission on the terror attacks was set up 442 days from the attack itself. The released their final report on July 22, 2004. Relying on existing documentation this committee investigated how existing systems failed to foretell t thus provide us with more security. The report has an effect of absolving Saudi Arabia of blame in the case. In the two reports I will seek to identify the causative factors as well as the measures that were adopted to address them.

Posner, R. A. (2005). Preventing surprise attacks: Intelligence reform in the wake of 9/11. Stanford, Calif: Hoover Institution, Stanford University.

In this book the author points out the shortcomings of the intelligence at the time. From a view that should be adopted in discussing the underlying reasons why 9/11 happened and even why it was planned in the first place.

Hillstrom, K. (2012). The September 11 terrorist attacks. Detroit, MI: Omni graphics.

The omni graphics procedure aims at a step by step reconstruction of the terms events that transpired on the fateful day. Knowledge of this will enable me discuss the event in depth.

This article presents a step by step account of various forms of reactions across the Americas with respect to 9/11. I intend to use material from this article in developing the social governance and administration decisions in the wake of the blast.

The article seeks to explain the impact of the reaction of 9//11 event on the people’s rights. Often the

wishes of the minority are not followed in most leadership. For a self sufficient democracy however, it

remains imperative that the response by the government be explored.

The article is mainly focused on the steps being adopted by the various individual states. The

disaster management skills and option is usually a necessity whose real importance is not

anticipated. This article will help in expounding how the 9/11 has shaped the current disaster

management skills.
