Topic: Global trends of computer manufacturing industry

1. Why is this topic important?

In this information age, it is necessary for one to be abreast with the latest trends in the computer manufacturing industry across the world (Paul. Hurst, Lewis and Meyer 39) (Shih-Chii, Giacomo and Rodney 17). This is because the world economy presents both threats and opportunities in the computer industry (Brands 55) (Stallings 91). With this regard, this topic is important in that it facilitates one to understand the trend in the latest technological innovations in the computer industry (Hambley 18) (Peterson and Davie 9). This is due to the fact that a number of gadgets have been developed in the computer industry in recent years including Smartphones and tablets(Schwalbe 66) (Fitzgerald, Kingsley and Umans 4) (Dawson 33). Secondly, just like other industries across the globe (Gerardo 48 (Sawyer 38)), the computer industry plays a key role in the global economy (GDP) (Rabaey, Chandrakasan, and Nikolic 21). With this regard, it is necessary to understand the trend in the computer industry’s contribution to the global economy in within the past few years (Le Bodic 5) (Laudon and Traver 32). Particularly, this will be beneficial to the investors in the computer industry (El-Rewini and Abd-El-Barr 13). Moreover, the topic will enable one to understand the trends in the computer manufacturing companies’ supply chain management (Tanenbaum 6). As a result, it will be possible to make informed decisions on what models are profitable in the current business environment (Stacey 12). Besides, it will be necessary to know the prices for various computer peripherals such as the USB flash disks, (Perlman 165) printers and modems among others (Hutchinson 9) (Laudon and Laudon 56). Furthermore, the topic is important in that it will enable one to recognize the computer companies across the world (Andersson 6). In this case, the information about the new market entrants will also be vital (Kerschberg 23).

2. What are three related items or issues connected to your problem statement (you must include two references in support of each issue)?

A. The latest advancements in personal computer (PC) models (Kraemer, Dedrick & Yamashiro, 8) such as build to order model (Carlson, 2).

B. The use of information systems in the computer manufacturing companies’ supply chain management (Hutchinson 20) (Murty, 5; Wiley.com, 320).

C. The latest computer companies in the world (Computerworlduk.com; Computerworld.in)
