The author of the book Animal Farm portrays a space between human and animal kingdom. George Orwell used animal characters to create a fantasy space between the sensitive issues of his time and the most acceptable fantasy world of animal tales. Orwell also satirizes other countries through the space he creates by using an animal farm setting to tell his story . Principally, Orwell was critical of the dictatorship and the oppression that Russian leader, Joseph Stalin meted out during his reign. The creation of space in Animal Farm alludes to the detachment that Orwell gave to characters and actions in his novel in order to gain acceptability of his literal piece and deliver timeless satire to oppressive systems. There are many instances and comparisions made in the book. The main theme of the book is the animals in the farm were against the human rule over them. They wanted freedom and wanted to live by themselves independently.
First off, the animals in the farm, which was actually called as the manors farm , were against Mr. Jones who used to feed them. But these animals wanted independence. It was the pigs those ruled named napoleons, squeakers.
As the tale proceeds we can see that there are many of the animals that try to betray others. This can be clearly understood how molles for his greedy purposes went into other farm. And used to visit the farm during the nights to steal food. No animal in the farm actually thought that it would happen. It was unbelievable to them of how molles did. As molles did , it was another animal snowball who did the same. It was impossible for the napoleons to believe that all the while snow ball was a secret agent of Mr. Jones. Napoleon had a powerful, egocentric lust for control, while Snowball seems to think of himself as a genius who should be the one to guide the farm toward success but each represents a potential dictator. Neither pig ,nor the other animals’ interests at heart, and thus neither represented the socialist ideals of Animal Farm.
Later, when the construction of the windmill was in progress, there were many animals who were against it and helped others to break it off. But , the animals never lost hope they began to build it from the beginning again. There were many animals then who showed their back by helping their enemies.
The use of an animal tale carves the author a “timelessness” space that he can use to criticize oppressive regimes and systems throughout human existence. The animal characters such as Napoleon, Snowball, Squealer, Boxer, and many others possess traits that can speak to or of other historical figures such as Adolf Hitler, as well as modern-day dictators. It is no doubt that Orwell’s epic statement “All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others” has been used to describe human systems characterized by oppression.
However, the tale can be linked to our own living where all of us are under someone each and every day being suppressed and dictated. This story can be well linked to my country’s freedom. The space I took is freedom. My country was occupied by the British and all the people in the country wanted to free themselves from the orders of the leaders. Thus they made plans , planned meeting to discuss what they should do to go against them and free themselves. There were leaders who led them to next plan of action. These leaders educated those people saying that it would help them against the Britishers. But it was not for that purpose. The leaders were doing that for their own good. It was for the British education to get published in our country. That is it was for their own good as they earned money by doing so. Also, they were able to popularize their type of education. It was just to attract people and not for the welfare of the people.
Well, there are many people who betrayed like Molles, snowball. They were the secret agents to the Britishers. And, these were the people who were responsible to leak their plans, news and where abouts. Anyway, the people of my country soon realized about them and stopped involving them in anyway.
This is because people are greedy. They can do anything to grab money. No matter, if it could be their own family or friends they can betray them all for money. The space here is freedom.
Thus, the people of my country formed groups and re named the country’s name as to show their antipathy to their enemies. As in, the animals in the farm renamed the farm as “Animal Farm” instead of “Manors farm”. Everything at that point of time was under the rulers’ control. None of our people were rich or strong enough to fight back.
The Britishers came to know about this and they slowly planned to attract each person one by one by showing them money. This was how some of them went to help the Britishers . These rulers tried to attract people by showing them money. However, beacause people of the country were not so rich, they gave support to the rulers and deceived their people. There were only few people who turned towards the Britishers but they had a big plan. They wanted the entire country’s people under their control. That wouldn’t happen with few people’s support. Therefore, the rulers then followed the “divide and rule” against the people so that they can be benefited. According to which they divide the people either by attracting them money or by suppressing them and planned to rule against them. There were several rules that were written by the people like the seven commandments in the Animal farm. The result of this rule was the success of the Britishers. The number of people that got attracted towards them increased in large numbers. Slowly those people then their leaders came into Britishers control.
However, people forgot to remember the rules that were set by them selves as to fight against the rulers here. They were somehow under the rules set by the rulers. The rules that were meant to follow by the people who were under control were no longer in use. The leaders superseded them. Rules were just something only written on a piece of paper and almost nobody followed it. Therefore, the rulers became successful in ruling over the country. Eventually all the people changed and came under the rulers control. The people themselves were unaware of what has happened to them and the irony is they became what they hated and feared the most in the beginning.
In conclusion, I would say that, their is a bigger picture. It's not about animals. It's about a political statement. The book proves that equality is not possible in every situation of life we are in some way or the other in somebody else’s control. By narrating the story of my country’s freedom fight I want to say is we all should get united keeping all our greediness aside. It should be our people that should be our first priority. And, it should be us who has to follow the rules. If the rules are not followed by the one who had set it. Then, nobody would bother to follow those commandments. But, if those rules are followed by at least one. Then it spreads like fire and every body around starts to follow it. Thus, it is on us to break or unite one and all.
