GEO Paper outline

This assignment allows you to dig into a topic you find exciting and prepare a carefully research, well organized and argued research paper of about 3500 words (plus maps, images, and other graphics).

Topics. Geography embraces a lot of subject matter from natural science through social science and the humanities. Geography is often defined by its spatial dimensions. A report on the doctrinal differences between Gelugpa and Theravada Buddhism wouldn’t qualify for this assignment, though research into the distribution across the region of different forms of Buddhism would. The geochemistry of Panjal volcanics isn’t geography, though the expression of volcanic rocks in the geomorphology of the Central Himalaya could be.

Illustrations. Make or find a map and or other illustrations for your topic. Be absolutely certain to caption and credit the source of any images and graphics you borrow.

The general principles of any research paper apply ( http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/658/01/ ): You must draw mostly from refereed, published sources, which you must cite both within the body of the paper and as a bibliography. Be very careful to study and follow General guidelines for written work in my classes.
