5/12/14 9 am-4pm 7 Training day! I observed many behaviors from fear to timidness. I learned that trauma and or a crisis makes people behave or react in many different ways from denial to fear and avoidance to helplessness and hopelessness. :)

5/21/14 8:30am-2:30pm 6 Domestic violence victim came into agency needing help filing a civil protection order. Victim was calm and spoke of how much better she felt knowing that our program was there to help people like her. The powerlessness she had prior felt was now replaced with confidence
5/23/14 8:30am-12:30 pm 4 Assult victim came into agency viably shaken because he had been physically assulted. He was shaken and upset but had no visable bruises or contusions
5/27/14 8:30am-2:30 pm 6 Angry victim of assult came in. I observed the extreme anger the victim was feeling after he had been assulted and after a bit of breathing techniques he was able to be calmed down and paperwork completed
5/28/14 8:30am-2:30pm 6 A woman came in to the center to fill out paperwork for her murdered son. Her behavior was that of a grieving mother. Her son had died in a murder back in Nov 2013 and she came into my agency to fill out our paperwork for victim’s compensation. You could see by her actions she was reliving the devastating events that unfolded when her son was killed. She was dazed and confused at times, tearful and sad at other times.
5/30/14 8:30am-12:30 pm 4 Victim of a Robbery came in very emotional and shaken. Shows signs of shock and tramua. Needing help for receiving victim compensation.
6/2/14 8:30am-2:30pm 6 Shooting victim came in visibly shaken and in shock. Shooting had occurred week before and victim had watched his step father shot and killed when next suspect shot at the victim and hit him in the arm. Victim came to agency for help getting and receiving victim compensation
6/4/14 8:30am-2:30pm 6 Domestic violence victim came in to file a protection order against spouse. She was upset and nervous trying to explain the patterns of behavior from her husband. She stated violence was not physical but emotional, verbal, and economical. Victim stated patterns of abuse were done in front of children.
6/6/14 8:30am-12:30 pm 4 Helped run victim hotline. Caller called in mad because she was jumped by her nephews young friends for no reason. She displayed emotions of anger, regret, and false guilt because she had to fight 3 young people around the age of 18. They had jumped her and i eased her mid to realize she is a victim and she had to protect herself.
6/9/14 8:30am-2:30pm 6 Shadowed at the courthouse detective bureau. Client came in with black eye shaken and scared. Helped her get a civil protection order and assured her while her husband is in jail she is safe. Helped her build a safe plan.
6/11/14 8:30am-2:30pm 6 Shadowed at detective bureau. Met with a husband and wife couple victimized and assulted from a family member. Both were very angry, upset, and hurt that someone they love could physically hurt them the way that he had.
6/13/14 8:30am-12:30 pm 4 Today I had to go to a hearing with a victim. She was showing signs of anxiety by twirling her hair and shaking her foot. Magistrate granted victim protection order by which she calmed down and was thankful to know her husband could no longer abuse her.
6/16/14 8:30am-2:30pm 6 Went to courthouse and watched arrianments. Watched jailers speak with judge. Nervousness was a common show of behaviors as well as relief if they were able to get out on bond.
6/18/14 8:30am-2:30pm 6 Saw victim who displayed signs of depression. She was wringing her hands and crying for she was unsure of her future and what she was going to do. We helped show her that she was making the right decisions and there are people and places that can and will help her get back on her feet
6/20/14 8:30am-12:30 pm 4 Ran victim assistance hotline. Had a caller scared and afraid possibly suffering from the cycle of abuse in the relationship. Caller explained she has been abused on a regular bases and could not take it any more. Anvised caller to come to our agency so a protection order could be filed and we could get her safe from the domestic violence.
6/23/14 8:30am-2:30pm 6 Around 9 am we met with victim 1 who is very scared that her kids will be taken from her. She displayed signs of tension and stated she felt unable to cope. Around 11 we met with victim number 2 and had to go to court with her. She was releived that judge granted her civil protection order.
6/25/14 8:30am-2:30pm 6 Victim came in showing signs of anxiety and fear. She was wringing her hands and kept playing with her hair. I helped her develop a safety plan and helped with her cival protection order paperwork
6/27/14 8:30am-12:30 pm 4 Training day about sexual assult victims and the court system
7/1/14 8:30am-2:30pm 6 Had CARE unit today. Care is for child victims of rape or molestation. Worked with parents of victim of molestation. Mother was hysterical and was crying and devestated. Father had a more calm deemener yet was concerned and trying to stay strong for his wife. Both were visibly upset in there own unique way. Helped them to relaize that what they are feeling and going through is normal and set them up with a tramua therapist.
7/2/14 8:30am-2:30pm 6 Domestic violence male victim came in seeking a civil protection order against wife who had punched and hit him. He had scratches down his face and showed signs of embarressment for having to do this and also concern for his wife and fear of what she would do next. Referred victim to Akron Police Department to see a magistrate.
7/7/14 8:30am-2:30pm 6 Went to arraignments and watched the Domestic Violence suspects go through court proceedings. One man was very upset and confused because he had to leave his home so victim could continue to live there yet home was suspects not victims. Victim was releived when she found this out and showed signs of happiness because she did not have to leave her current home.
7/8/14 8:30am-2:30pm 6 CARE Unit. Mother of rape victim was very very upset and displayed emotions of worry and anger. She was upset because the person who raped her daughter was a good friend of her daughters. She tapped her foot a lot and I told her a breathing technique to calm her. We referred her to seek counseling and gave her phone numbers for her and her daughter to get further support.
7/9/14 8:30am-2:30pm 6 Ran victim assistance hotline. Had a caller call in mad and irritated because their neighbor had became confrontational and aggressive with him and had hit him and fight broke out all because his dog had got loose and pooped in his driveway. Victim had a shakey and crackling voice.
7/11/14 8:30am-12:30 pm 4 Ran victim assistance hotline. Spoke with many victims of burglery today. All were mad and upset. One particular was crying and so upset because this was the second time she had been burglurized and was unsure where she can go. Gave her referrals to help keep her safe.
7/14/14 8:30am-2:30pm 6 Final Day! Helped victin file a civil protection order against her husband. She displayed signs of Guilt and self blame. Assured victim that it is not her fault and she was making the right decision. She was crying and very visably upset.
