GROUP TEXTBOOK-BASED RESEARCH PROJECT #1—Chapters 1-4
Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to, in small groups, apply research-writing skills to the course text in order to test your knowledge of the assigned chapters.
Assignment: In ASSIGNED groups of four or five, you are to do the following:
· Choose which question that your group will answer in the assignment.
· Each person will, using information from the course text, choose which support from the course text to use to support his or her answer. This means that while it is a group project, each member is responsible for his or her own contribution supported by material from the specific chapters assigned. There are really only two collaborative parts to the assignment: a) deciding on a question as a group and 2) making sure that all group members have access to each other’s portion for turn-in. We will have class time for you to engage in discussion and make sure group members are on topic.
· The more support from the text to support your observation, the better the chance for a higher grade.
· The assignment is to be turned in on D2L as one large work. Each group member is responsible for submitting the entire project (each member turns in the same final project).
· MLA format: typed, double-spaced, citations. One Works Cited page entry for course text.
QUESTIONS: CHOOSE ONE—use support from the course text. Answer in essay form:
Chapter 2—The Psychology of Persuasion: Basic Concepts and Principles
2) How and why is the Clinton affair used in the course text to illustrate audience and the psychology of persuasion?
REQUIREMENTS:
· Each group member’s section should be 1-2 pp, typed, double spaced, MLA format.
· The final product is to be turned in on D2L by all members of the group. In other words, each member’s contribution needs to be included in the assignment. You are responsible for providing your peers with your portion.
· 100 POINTS POSSIBLE. This is a group assignment; therefore, the GROUP will be graded accordingly if a member does not turn in his or her part of the assignment and be deducted 25% for each missing portion.
· DUE Friday, 9/19, POSTED TO D2L
