Summer 2014

Mystatlab from Pearson

Calculator: It is advised that each student have a graphing calculator.

The TI-84, TI-83 or TI-83+ is strongly recommended. This program, MYSTALAB, comes with a program called Statcrunch you can use.

Course Information: This course will cover: graphical representation of statistical data, measures of central tendency and variability, elementary probability, applications of binomial, normal and "t" distributions, tests of hypotheses, and confidence intervals.

Homework/Quizzes: Homework will be assigned and graded. Exam and quiz questions will be representative of the homework assigned. Quizzes will be given every Monday and must be completed by 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time. Quizzes may be taken three times as long as they are taken before the due date. The highest score will be recorded. A test may only be taken once.

Testing: There will be three exams given on July 15th, August 5th, and August 15th. There will be no make-up exams. The tests will be open from noon the day before until to 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on the actual day of the test. You will be allowed two hours to complete the tests. These tests are open notes and open book. However, it is to your advantage to know the material well enough that you can finish in the specified time.

Offline Assignment: On at least one assignment you will required to complete the assignment with paper and pencil to turn in. You may either scan, fax or take a picture with your phone and send it to my email. Either will work. The important issue is that I see your work. I will grade these assignments and send them back to you as a pdf.

Code of Conduct: Students are expected to demonstrate their knowledge with honesty and integrity. OIT considers academic dishonesty to be an unacceptable practice. Any student that chooses to violate this policy with regards to this course will receive an automatic F for the course.
