BEIT 336 LETTER REPORT

GROUP RECOMMENDATION REPORT ASSIGNMENT

Directions

Write a single-spaced, two-page modified block-style letter to Mr. Scott Perkins. In this letter report, analyze the assignment case, draw conclusions, and make recommendations. DO NOT USE ASSIGNMENT WORDING IN YOUR REPORT. Mr. Perkins is a long-time client, and he values your input and trusts your recommendation (i.e., use modified direct order). Include section headings (use talking headings) and a header on page 2; watch sentence and paragraph construction; include concrete facts, clear conclusions, and detailed recommendations. You may use graphic aids to illustrate the survey results. However, the graphic aid should not substitute your writing; you need to introduce the graphic aid and provide a discussion of its content (rule of thumb: the discussion must capture the highlight of the graphic aid, in case your reader ignores the graphic aid).

Designate one person on your team to submit both the group report outline and the report via Blackboard by 10 A.M. on Monday, July 21. Every student will submit a peer evaluation form (see page of this file) by the same deadline. Students who do not submit their peer evaluation form will receive zero group interaction point.

Assignment Case

You are an independent marketing research consultant, and you have been hired by Mr. Scott Perkins to survey customers and recommend new additions to the menu of Mr. Perkins’ restaurant: Scotty’s Bistro. By polling customers on Facebook, as well as surveying diners for six weeks, you gathered input from over 2,200 customers.

For each new menu item, the percent of customer who indicated: “Yes, I will select this item if available on the menu,” the average preparation time, and profit margin are summarized on page two.

Analyze the survey results (you may supplement details based on your own experience) and recommend six new menu items (among all fifteen items across three categories) for Scotty’s Bistro. In addition to customer preferences, you must take into consideration in your analysis the preparation time and profit margin of these possible new menu items.

Note: Although this is a group assignment, the team should write in first-person, singular voice. You can make up a name for the writer or use the name of one group member.
