BC Project/Business Project Proposal (For Reference).docx

Daniel Faherty

Project Proposal

Name of my Organization: Geographic Solutions

Location: Palm Harbor, Florida

Open 5 days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Overview of Situation:

Geographic Solutions is a company that provides jobs listings to site like Indeed and Monster. They also run the database of job listings for WorkNet Pinellas. Their main mission to keep all database information up-to-date. I would like them to also actively help the unemployed get employed. This project will be based on helping the unemployed get employed by using the company’s resources to accurately database job listings for many different employment sites. While this project will be aimed to help the unemployed, it will also be aimed to get better jobs to individuals that are underemployed.

The Opportunity:

My plan is to gather all the job openings that are in the state of Florida and database them in reference to their job title, date, description and location. I will collect all of this and create a separate database. I will then send this database to WorkNet Pinellas. I will also create a free guide that list interview tips and techniques, which will be giving to WorkNet Pinellas for anyone that comes in looking for a job. The database will help the agents at WorkNet to actively match jobs in Florida to the unemployed. Once a job is lined up, agents will then train the unemployed individuals on proper interviewing techniques. Upon all of this, the database will be updated daily to make sure job listings are up-to-date with the correct information. I will not be able to do this alone. I will have to partner will the internet researchers at Geographic Solutions to help search for accurate job listings all over the state of Florida. This will require a lot of networking with other businesses to achieve the most accurate listings possible.

Audience Analysis:

The main audience will be the unemployed and anyone that is underemployed. The plan is to actively help them by cutting out a step in the job process, finding accurate job listings in their area. I also plan for WorkNet Pinellas to actively prepare these individuals for interviews after applying for job postings through their database. The overall goal is to help people become employed and more confident in their abilities to do so. I will propose this new idea the overview manager of Geographic Solutions and WorkNet Pinellas.

Key Stakeholders:

The key stakeholders will by the unemployed, WorkNet Pinellas, Business Recruitment Centers and Geographic Solutions.

BC Project/Business Proposal Powerpoint (draft).pptx

Empowering Employment

A business strategy to help the unemployed, and underemployed.

Daniel Faherty

Business Communication Class

Overview

Geographic Solutions is an employment database company that delivers job listings to employment sites such as: Indeed.com and Monster.com.

Their goal is to bring the latest information to the client base to retain accuracy, quality, and efficiency.

So they deliver job listings to the client base of unemployed civilians, but what happens after they apply? What can Geographic Solutions do to empower the interviewee, and create success within the hiring process for their client base?

The Opportunity

The Current Situation

As of right now, Geographic is a database listing company delivering job listings to websites and employment businesses. After they deliver those listings, their job is done. I want to implement key team strategies to go even further and help guarantee success of the unemployed person by keeping reliable database information, creating job success brochures, and working with WorkNet Pinellas to help the client to achieve confidence and resilience.

Florida Unemployment Statistics

The Opportunity

Key Success Factors

In order to guarantee success in this business plan, everyone involved must know their part and perform as directed.

Everyone is assigned a role based on their skills and job title.

Their names and job titles are listed as such.

Who is involved?

I have called on four additional people that are valuable assets to this plan.

Jay M.- Internet Researcher

Jason M.- Internet Researcher Manager

Debbie J.- Overviewing Manager

Mark J. – WorkNet Pinellas Agent

The Opportunity

Key Success Factors

What is everyone’s role?

Jay M. & Jason M. – As internet researchers, these two will collaborate and make sure all database entries of potential job listings are the latest, most accurate descriptions possible. In order to insure success the client needs correct information about the job and it’s requirements.

Debbie J. – As an overview manager, Debbie has extensive knowledge of procedure and all programs used to upload database entries. She will make sure all software runs smoothly for the entry process and supervise all quality of the material put out by the internet researchers.

Mark J. – As a Worknet Pinellas Agent, Mark’s job is crucial to the success of the plan. Not only will Mark use the job listings as an asset to his job, he will look for ways to help the client achieve success of their job hunting endeavors. He will implement one-on-one training with the client with interview tips and a mock interview session to help them be confident and ready for their job interview.

The Opportunity

Strategic Option

The best option to achieve success in my plan would be in the following steps.

Create a team of members: A small close-knit group of members will ensure efficiency and high confidence in their duties.

Implement specific jobs for all members: When everyone knows exactly what their jobs are and does not have to worry about anything else, this creates focus and accuracy.

Create a work plan for those jobs: With a map of exactly how to do their assigned job, this eliminates confusion and questions. This will allow each member to devote more time to their assigned task rather than fall under confusion.

Collaborate with WorkNet: An agreement with Work Net Pinellas must be made to make sure everyone has the same expectations and desires for this project.

Create brochures and informative pamphlets for clients: To make sure Mark is confident in his job we will create pamphlets full of ideas, and tips for success to help Mark train these clients on how to have a successful interview.

Benefits & Risks of Strategic Option

Benefits:

Could decrease the state unemployment rate.

Help people find jobs they are qualified for and deserve.

Reduce the stress of finding quality employment.

Create great morale and confidence in clients.

Help have a greater client turnout base.

Risks:

Could overload current members on duties with their current jobs.

Could have a negative affect on clients by applying pressure on them.

Relationship between WorkNet Pinellas and Geographic Solutions may not be symbiotic.

Call to Action/Final Recommendation

I recommend implementing this proposal on a trial basis and tracking all statistics of the program.

We need to record employment morale, successful employment influenced by the program, amount of additional man hour required to run the program, client reviews and feedback, team member feedback.

I think the period of 1 year is a good trial period for the program to ensure quality, and success.

At the end of the 1 year period, all data should be analyzed by Debbie J. and she shall determine if the program was a success or failure.

BC Project/Instructions (Look here first)/Project Guidelines.docx

Purpose of the Course Project: Solving a business problem for someone who is receptive to your recommendations is an excellent way to improve your professional effectiveness and get ahead. Learning how to identify problems and propose solutions will benefit you now and in the future.

Part 5 of 5: The Final Project Presentation should improve upon your presentation in Week 6 (based on Partners’ group feedback) and present the information in the full paper Final Report in a clear, pleasant way. Be sure to refer to the rules of how to compose and deliver presentations in Ch.10.  You will need to consider how you will deliver and present both the paper report and your final presentation to the key stakeholder contact who may wish to utilize some or all of this report.

Directions for Part 5:

1. Develop your final slide presentation, revising based on your Partners’ Group feedback. Refer to the rules of how to compose and deliver presentations in Ch.10. In particular, note how Figure 10.18 reveals clear slides with large-enough font and limited amounts of text on a slide. Using graphics and photos, along with charts, as relayed in the Presentation Zen materials, will help you effectively convey your message.

Zen principles include:

· Narration with pictures is better than narration alone.

· People learn better when words are presented as narration rather than text. There shouldn’t be any full sentences

· People learn better from narration & graphics , rather than narration, graphics & text.

· People learn better when extraneous visual material is excluded.

Quick Slide Tips:

· Keep it simple

· Avoid Microsoft templates or clip art

· Use high quality graphics, photos

· Use animation sparingly

· Synchronize slide change & speaking

· Use video/audio as appropriate

· Only 1 idea per slide
