This quest consisted of Phase 1 and Phase 3 innovation and was followed by Innovation as a Core Competency.

Three of the innovation approaches included the white canvas innovation . The 100 Days Plan, and the Double Diamond Process Adoption. The Double Diamond Process Adoption approach is a set of tools was key to demonstrating that an established organization could transform itself through its own people and that everyone can innovate (Norena, 2013).

Phase two of Whirlpool innovations occurred from 2004-2010 and consisted of the i-Mentor Program, Sandbox for Innovation, Seeing is Believing, i-boxes, and Formal Metrics. The Seeing is Believing is program used consumer generated data to make decision about the future approach of Whirlpool. Formal metrics were applied by categorizing the innovative household appliance and then measuring the innovations to scale.
