Interviews are always conducted to clarify on information and to pass vital information that might cause misunderstanding if not properly posted (Gordon, & Fleisher, 2011). In the view of the conveyance process of the interview message that is essential for understanding of information for population especially for government officials and there policies that need to be communicated to the public and ensure that the policies are correctly understood.

In the interview conducted by Steve Kroft of CBS news interviewing president Barrack Obama and Secretary Hillary Clinton, they were accustomed to talking of their relation from bitter rivals in the run up of the primaries of clinching the Democratic ticket to becoming powerful partners in the US government American citizens. A silence technique of interview is denotable from the time Kroft asks several question on the previous hearing regarding her reason for accepting responsibility for questioned issues. Hillary posses a moment of silent, even when Kroft asks her, “In New York Times footage you accepted responsibility but not blame? Do you feel guilty any way at a personal level?” (CBS, 2013, 02:15). Clinton’s silence technique implicates a moment of seeking concise and perfect answer, and it is from this reason that she only begins to respond when asked the question, “Do you, blame yourself that should have known all that you should have known?”

The interviewees also use the technique of reflection, particularly in their response to the questions of cooperative state actions in the application and credibility of foreign policy. For instance, when Kroft asks Obama and Clinton to responds to the alleged abdication in the application of US foreign policy, Obama reflects on their successful actions under the foreign policy. He says, Mohammed Gaddaffi probably does not agree with that assessment, for at least if he was around, he wouldn’t agree with that assessment. Obviously… ah, we helped to put together and lay the groundwork for liberating Libya” (05:07).

Another technique used in the interview is the summarizing of the information, as the interviewees respond to Kroft’s questions. This technique is evidently used throughout the interview with questions asked and seeking intense clarification from the interviewees. For instant, at the initial moments of the interview, Kroft asks Clinton regarding the state of her health. She responds, “Oh it’s great, it’s great”, and decides to offer a sentence to clarify the greatness of her health by saying, “You know I still have some lingering effects from falling on my head and having a blood clot, but you know the doctors tell me that that will always seed. So thankfully am looking forward to being at full speed” (01:13).
