For our topic, we will be writing about Abraham Lincoln and how he worked to abolish slavery and because slavery was primarily in the South, that’s where he focused his efforts. This series of unfortunate events occurred because the white man felt that he was superior to the African American. While he was in office, Abraham Lincoln worked to abolish the expansion of slavery.
This was a milestone in American history because it changed the way people viewed slavery. If it weren’t for the changes Abraham Lincoln established in history, we may still have slavery today. This step paved the path for African Americans to be able to attain the equality and freedom they deserve. Due to Lincoln’s brave efforts, African American’s have been able to live freely among everyone else. Although some Caucasians disapproved, African Americans got the human rights they deserved all along.
We will be breaking down the topic in our paper by talking about Abraham Lincoln’s desire to abolish slavery in the United states, starting with his first inaugural address, and also how he guided the union to defeat the Confederates at the battle of Gettysburg. Emancipation Proclamation may have not outlawed slavery, but made all segments of the government to recognize and maintain the freedom of ex slaves.
We will use online resources to explain how Abraham Lincoln tried to abolish slavery. Also we will use the book, Race, Class, and Gender in the Unites States to show how Abraham Lincoln was against the superiority white males had in the South. The resources that we are going to use will give us the evidence that we need to show the steps Abraham Lincoln took to achieve freedom for all.
