JavaNet Project

Introduction

Primarily, my project involves the establishing of a JavaNet café where customers would enjoy coffee as they connect with their friends, relatives and others online. Mostly, many cafes within America offer one service only that is refreshment, where people converge to enjoy their favorite beverages. Most people like taking their favorite beverages while listening to music or even socializing with their friends on popular social Media sites such as Facebook and twitter. Coffee and other drinks go well with entertainment. For this reason, JavaNet is the only solution to this ever rising demand. People are increasingly pursuing unique platform for communication as well as entertainment using the internet. It is evident that the internet has become the source of happiness for people who have exhausted their entertainment reservoirs. With each passing day, the internet has been filled with fresh ideas from all over the world.

There are sites like YouTube and Motion pictures where people can share their life’s best moments to the rest of the world (Castells, 2013). However, there are various challenges in regards to access of internet services. Most parts of America have strict regulations and don’t allow people to access sites such as YouTube that provide entertaining content. The opponents claim that the sites have contents that can bring harm to the society and the end users at large. However, not all people watch abusive contents online, some use that opportunity to educate themselves and explore new things. For instance, it takes hours to travel from America to India to see the Taj Mahal. On the contrary, it takes approximately two seconds to search pictures of Taj Mahal from the comfort of a coffee café using the internet. Therefore, the aforementioned reasons have seen the need to establish JavaNet café where people can enjoy reliable, safe and secure internet as they sip their favorite beverages.

Over the past few years, technology has really evolved with massive inventions coming into existence. During the past twenty years, it took around two days for a message to be relayed from one place to the other (Castells, 2013). However, after technological inventions that has changed a great deal. One of the emerging technologies that have evolved over the years is the internet. The Internet being a network of computers has enhanced technological breakthroughs. It has made the world a global village where people thousands of kilometers away can communicate as if they were steps away from each other. After the invention of the internet, more fast and reliable channels of communications have emerged. Such channels have made the world a better place (Castells, 2013). With the invention of the internet, more technologies have emerged over the years. A good example is the emergence of social media such as Facebook and twitter. The social media sites have become a place where people from all over the world can socialize and get to know one another better.

Conversely, JavaNet, is not like the ordinary café where people just eat and drink from, it is a hybrid café that will provide its customers with a one of its kind environment for both communication as well as entertainment through the Internet (Dorogovtsev et al, 2013). JavaNet will become the answer to the ever increasing public demand. All over America, the general public wants a platform where they can have unlimited access to the methods of communication and volumes of information that are currently available on the Internet.

Secondly, the public also wants access to these facilities at a reasonable cost that is in line with their pockets. Something they can afford. Moreover the public wants access to such resources so that they are not isolated socially, economically and politically. Being isolated socially simply means that the people lack the knowhow on what is happening to the rest of world in terms of relationships. In that, they are illiterate when it comes to socialization and interactions. With reliable internet, people can interact with others from other parts of the world. A good example is, an American can use popular social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter to meet his lifetime partner, like a wife perhaps, from other parts of the world such as Africa. Secondly, economic isolation means that the people don’t have the knowhow when it comes to economic matters. For example, an American with investments in Africa cannot know how his or her investments are doing if he lacks proper information. Nevertheless, if that person has access to internet he can know what is happening on the ground. Politically, without adequate information from the internet people would not know what is really happening to governments from the rest of the world. Thus, JavaNet is the solution to all this.

Project Vision

Being a one of a kind facility in Arlington area, the café wishes to go beyond the expectations by delivering one of kind services to the customers. The café wishes to provide its customers with a unique environment where they can enjoy their coffee as they communicate with one another online. JavaNet also wishes to go beyond a normal cyber café by providing up to date ICT facilities to its customers. With up to date ICT facilities, customer satisfaction can be guaranteed. When the customers are happy with the services that are offered, there are high chances of them coming back with new ones. On top of that, customer satisfaction is the number one source of referrals. In that, a satisfied customer is most likely to refer others with the same needs. On the contrary, dissatisfied customer will most probably spread the news to others. Hence, customer satisfaction becomes one of JavaNet’s visions.

Provision of quality services is the next vision. Quality services would mean that our services department will have relevant skills that are aimed at guaranteeing customer satisfaction. Our service department will also be empowered with public relation skills. In any organization, public relations are essential when it comes to maintaining a positive image between consumers and the general public (Griffin et al, 2012). As part of maintaining good public relations, a company should bring to the attention of the public any issue that may affect them. The latter guarantees customers’ satisfaction. JavaNet staff would specialize in written communication.

Written communication is an imperative part and parcel of a successful organization. When JavaNet café management has a clear understanding of written communication in public relations, we will most likely lay down efficient corporate policies that would ensure that our customers are satisfied. Written communication in public relations is important because it minimizes misinterpretation unlike verbal communications. Written communication ensures that information is stored for future reference unlike the verbal one (Griffin et al, 2012). Secondly, written communication in public relations ensures that there is collaboration between employees. For example, the employees will follow a single written statement that will ensure collaboration within JavaNet café.

Project Objectives

1. To become the leading coffee shop in Arlington.

2. To be the leading internet provider in Arlington

3. To ensure that our customers are satisfied with our services

4. To provide a serene environment to our customers

5. To create employment to qualifying personnel

6. To provide quality bakery products to our esteemed customers

7. To create a leading phone call center as well as XBOX computer games at a reasonable price

8. To promote interaction between residents of Arlington.

Customers who will use the deliverables

First of all, it would be our number one priority to ensure that our coffee shop would be distinct from the local coffee shops where only coffee is sold. To achieve this, JavaNet will invest heavily in infrastructure by instituting a unique innovative environment. JavaNet's customers could be categorized into two groups. The first group will be classified as internet savvy. In that they are familiar with the internet and how it works. Their key desires would be to seek progressive and inviting atmospheres where they can get out of their day to day hustles in the offices or bedrooms and enjoy a great cup of coffee. The second category would be internet newbies people who are not familiar with the Internet. However, they were just waiting for the right opportunity to join their colleagues to form the online community. As per my own personal judgment, all of my major deliverables are connected with each other. It is very clear that, the key to a successful business associated is two major things. The first one is; Good customer service as well as good quality of product and services the business provide to the customers. In this context, if JavaNet could create a good reputation and at the same time give discounts when I sell more login tickets in the Internet café, Protect and keep fresh client computers for my next user, Share PC game license on my computers. The latter would be a good way of reducing the expenses. Subsequently, I would also allow multi-player games with the aim of increasing memberships. I would also make my own city network of Internet cafe, to increase my profit. All those tips will help me to measure my deliverables. For example; if I could provide to my customers good customer service but, in the poor quality of coffee or bakery item in this case my project will not be success. This project is a private business owned by one owner it has possibility to fail or success such as any kind of business. If I could cover my expenses for the first five months until the customer’s starts flowing in, it will be fine. If the internet café would be able to get about twenty customers every passing day for the first two months it would be alright, it would be a good start. Arlington, VA, is among the most active areas in the region, it has a quite a large number of international community and college students at large. The aforementioned people are the potential customers. If JavaNet would attract them, and satisfy their personal desires as well their personal needs, then success will be achieved. On the other hand, if these people don’t get what they need, my internet café would become a total failure.

Key Stakeholders for this project

The key stakeholders in my project are four parties. The first stakeholder is the business owner who sums up as the chief executive officer and the chief operating officer. The business owner has the responsibility of ensuring that the business runs smoothly without any challenges. The business owner will have the objectives of getting all the required permits and licenses that are needed before running a food handling and ICT company. The second stakeholder is the consumer; the consumer is the one who brings revenue to the business. JavaNet will invest in satisfying them fully so as to increase their spending. The next stakeholder is the bank; the bank is the institution where monetary support will be derived. Without monetary support, capital will not be present. No business can run without startup capital. Hence, the bank is a key stakeholder. The last stakeholder is external forces. The forces are the local governments among others. JavaNet should seek to adhere to government regulations because the government has a say on anything that happens within its defined territories.

The role and responsibilities of each project team resource

Location is the first resource, FastNet internet café is located in Arlington a strategic location that is filled with international community that is curious about what is happening at their native homes. The Location is important because it has accessibility. Customers love areas that are easily accessible. The next resources are collectively as equipment. The equipment includes, Computers, Printers, Routers, Scanners, Software, Coffee machines, Televisions, Internet service provider (ISP) and X-Boxes. Computers will be used to provide a platform for online usage. People would use computers as the pathway to usage. Printers and routers will help the users to print what they acquire from the internet for future usage. On the other hand, routers and ISPs would be used to provide internet services to many computers at the same time (Users, 2012). A reliable and fast internet services will increase customer satisfaction. Wi-Fi, will be created using a hotspot where users can surf using their smartphones or laptops. Coffee machines would be used to dispense coffee to the customers. Coffee is the main product therefore it is important. Televisions would keep the customers entertained as they await service. Employees will ensure that everything is up and running. They will ensure that they offer quality services to our customers. All the stated activities will be implemented on a short time span of about one month.

Dependencies, risks, issues, and assumptions of the project

In my project the key dependencies would be the bank where I will seek monetary support in case the startup capital exhausts before the dream is materialized. On the other hand, I will also seek financial support from financial experts in order to make the right decision financially. Some of the issues in my project include competition (McNeil et al, 2010). My internet café will most probably face a lot of competition from other established cafes. However, perseverance and humility will see JavaNet make a stride towards achieving its goals.

The three main issues are political risks, the people and financial risks. My business is most likely to face political pressure from local politicians. The politicians would claim that the café is harboring cybercrimes or pornography related issues unless the politicians are allowed to have influence on the business. Political pressure can be avoided by ensuring that the business is up to task and has strict measures with regards to online crimes. The business will have a server that blocks unlicensed sites.

The next risk is the people. In this context, the people are the target customers. With customers a business will succeed and prosper. However, without customers, the business might fail. Quite a large number of international community and college students at large are making up the people in Arlington. The aforementioned people are the potential customers. To mitigate this risk, JavaNet will take a step to attract them, and satisfy their personal desires as well their personal needs, and then success will be achieved. On the other hand, if these people don’t get what they need, the internet café might become a total failure. Financial risks might come up when the startup capital might not be sufficient. Insufficient funds mean that the dream of starting up one of a kind internet café would not be materialized. However, I will approach the bank to get a loan to supplement the needs as they arise.

In conclusion, the budget of the project is about $66, 505. The budget includes any emergency that might come in within the way. Lastly, JavaNet will seek to be the leading internet café in Arlington.
