HRM Week 1 of Module 1
According to one site, effective HR strategies cannot survive in a vacuum. To be effective, they must be aligned with the organization's strategic vision. The vision will provide an indication of where the company is heading and the people resources needed to help it get there. HR leaders should review the company's current vision to determine ways in which HR activities can support that vision. In concert with other organizational leaders, HR staff must consider whether the vision is applicable based on external and internal factors and whether changes in the marketplace may be suggesting a new vision (Richards, n.d.).
For this discussion, take a position on whether or not your agree or disagree that the HR department is the most instrumental when it comes to achieving the organization’s goals and objectives because one of its tasks is to find qualified applicants for positions. In preparing your response, ensure that you properly in-text cite all sources used in the support of your stated positions and the example or examples you chose to utilize. The response needs to be a minimum of 250 words Also, you will need to include the references at the end of your posting.

HRM Week 1 of Module 2
A job description is a list of the tasks, duties and responsibilities (TDRs) that a job entails. One of the problems with job descriptions is that they are not always updated to reflect specific changes of the job. This is validated by this information from one source, which says “A job description is only valid and useful to the extent that it accurately reflects job content” (Common, n.d.). The author goes on to say that job descriptions ignore the decision-making aspects of a job (Common, n.d.). This makes sense if you believe that all jobs involve a degree of decision making, which must be clearly defined in the job description, otherwise the scope of responsibility and accountability will remain unclear (Common, n.d.).
For your response, please take a position on whether or not all jobs involve an aspect of decision-making and if this should be captured in the job description. In preparing your response, ensure that you properly in-text cite all sources used in the support of your stated positions and the example or examples you chose to utilize. The response needs to be a minimum of 250 words. Also, you will need to include the references at the end of your posting.

HRM Week 1 of Module 3
Personnel selection is the methodical placement of individuals into jobs. Its impact on the organization is realized when employees achieve years or decades of service to the employer. The process of selection follows a methodology to collect information about an individual in order to determine if that individual should be employed. However, as many of us know this process is fraught with problems. There may be some form of pre-selection or some exclusion based on a physical characteristics.
For this discussion, take a position of for or against the idea that all interviews should be done via phone so that you only know their background, experience, and answer to interview questions. Would this eliminate biases in hiring people and ensure we hire only the best person? In preparing your response, ensure that you properly in-text cite all sources used in the support of your stated positions and the example or examples you chose to utilize. The response needs to be a minimum of 250 words. Also, you will need to include the references at the end of your posting.
HRM Week 1 of Module 4
An organization provides many products and services. This means staff must be able to do many types of jobs, which means they need to have certain skills. However, many experts believe that the American workforce is lacking some of the most essential skills. For example, 92 percent of top executives believe there is a skills gap (Wastler, 2013). In addition, the overwhelming majority believe the gap is in "soft skills"—communication, critical thinking, creativity and collaboration (Wastler, 2013).
Take a position on whether you agree or disagree with the notion that Americans are lacking the most basic job skills and that it forces employers to seek applicants from other countries. In preparing your response, ensure that you properly in-text cite all sources used in the support of your stated positions and the example or examples you chose to utilize. The response needs to be a minimum of 250 words. Also, you will need to include the references at the end of your posting.

HRM Week 1 of Module 5
There are many types of employees within a healthcare organization. You have full-time, part-time, temporary, and contract staff. According to the IRS, an employer is required to withhold income taxes, Social Security, Medicare and unemployment taxes for each employee but not for an independent contractor (Mostoller, 2012). Some might consider it better to have independent contractors because you save money on benefits and other withholdings.
For this discussion question, take a position on whether or not you believe the savings in cost outweigh the potential for harm to a patient by someone who isn’t vested in the company. In preparing your response, ensure that you properly in-text cite all sources used in the support of your stated positions and the example or examples you chose to utilize. The response needs to be a minimum of 250 words. Also, you will need to include the references at the end of your posting.
