Personal Reaction Inventory
Instructions: Please read the following statements and decide whether each one is true of false for you and circle T or F next to each item.
T F 1. I find it hard to imitate the behavior of other people.
T F 2. At parties and social gatherings, I do not attempt to do or say things that others
will like.
T F 3. I can only argue for ideas which I already believe.
T F 4. I can make impromptu speeches even on topics about which I have almost no

Scoring instructions:
Step 1: Reverse score the following items, so that all are now keyed in the high self-monitoring direction: 1, 2, 3, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16. (E.g., so if you originally answered #1 “true,” it is now false, and will not count as a point.)
Step 2: Now, give yourself one point for each “True” answer.
Step 3: Add up all your points.
Step 4: Put yourself in a category – high or low self-monitoring. If you score 14 or above, you are a HIGH Self-Monitor. If you scored 13 or below, you are a LOW self-monitor.
