Self Analysis Paper
Unit 5
Scoring Instructions : This scale has three subscales, listed below, along with their items. After reverse-scoring the R items (so that: 0=3, 1=2, 2=1, 3=0), add up the six items for each scale, then divide by six. For your total Hardiness score, add all 18 items and then divide by 18.
Commitment: 3, 10R, 14, 15R, 17, 18R ___________________________
Control: 1, 5R, 6, 7R, 9, 11 ___________________________
Challenge: 2R, 4R, 8, 12R, 13R, 16 ___________________________
Total Hardiness score: ___________________________
Note: This scale is a research scale, not a clinical one, so I cannot give you specific criteria for interpretation (i.e., cut-off scores). Generally, though, the higher your scores, the higher your hardiness, and the subscales can show you your relative position among the subscales.
