Respond to the following questions. Your responses do not have to be long, just a paragraph, but do make sure that they completely answer the questions.

1. What is your opinion about capitalism (free enterprise) being vital to the American way of life? What are the pros and cons of free enterprise?
Objective 2
1. How do you think dividing Germany into four parts affected Germans and those countries occupying the territory?
2. Why do you think the Berlin Wall symbolized the cold war? Do you think it represented something different to East-Berliners and West-Berliners? What do you think it meant to them and why? Justify your answer.
3. What reasons did the Americans have to be afraid of communism, especially given the developments of 1949? Do you think their fears were justified?

1. What songs do you know that protested the Vietnam War? What kinds of arguments do these songs use to support their opinions? What about songs that supported the war?
Objective 4
1. Why do you think Gorbachev needed to meet with President Reagan before cutting military spending?
2. How did the cold war influence everyday Americans? How does it continue to influence us today?
