Title : Judge banned from bench due to online comments, disclosing confidential info on celebrity’s adoption.

Author : Martha Neil.

Publisher : Associated press.

The article is all about one Arkansas Judge by the name Mike Maggio who was removed from his position because he went against the legal ethics code. He commented online about a confidential case of the adoption of a celebrity. He agreed on violating the legal ethics act and thus was proven guilty by the Arkansas judicial discipline. The judicial team imposed a life ban on him and rejected the plea for Maggio’s suspension.

In relation to legal ethics the article greatly demonstrates on the consequences of violation of legal ethics code. Legal ethics can be defined as the ethical code governing the conduct of people who are working in the law sector. Having learnt of legal ethics and the different acts associated with it; there are consequences in the case of violation. Referring from the article the judge had to be banned from his position because of going against the terms of the legal ethics that was the consequence. The article thus shows one of the consequences that result from the violation of legal ethics code. Legal ethics code prohibits the law practioneer from exposing confidential matters to the public. If a lawyer or judge goes against any legal ethics codes, he/she has to be taken to the judicial discipline team for verdict determination (Hazard & Dondi, 2004). For example in the article, Maggio was taken to the team and the outcome was his banishment from the bench since he violated one of the codes. The codes protect public confidentiality and no person working in the legal sector is supposed to do contrary to the codes (Kauffman, n.d.).
