Introduction:

Accident is an event, occurring suddenly, unexpectedly and inadvertently under unforeseen circumstances. Road traffic accidents can be defined as “An accident that occurred on a way or street open to public traffic; resulted in one or more persons being killed or injured, and at least one moving vehicle was involved

Background: Road traffic accidents ( RTAs) have turned out to be a huge global public health and development problem. Tripoli the capital of Libya .Tripoli has a high rate of accidents and deaths in relation to number of vehicles on the road. Realizing the need to establish baseline information on RTAs that helps the government to make a decision to minimize the loss and casualty.

Statement of Research Question:

The statement of this research question is: find out the independent variable such as age, history of accident, gender, witness of an accident because someone decided to run a red light, traffic tickets, tickets from a running a red light, to know if a person runs a yellow light while its about to turn red.

Statement of Hypothesis

The hypothesis for our research is: will gender, history of accident, age, witness of an accident because someone decided to run a red light, traffic tickets, tickets from a running a red light, to know if a person runs a yellow light while its about to turn red is foretelling the driver’s attitude to avoid red light cameras.

Methodology Section

For this research or experiment we used samples from gender and age. A survey was used to get all the information and result for the research. Multiple regression analysis and Chi square analysis were utilized to as statistical tools for the research

The expected sample for this research is fifty five people.

Recommendation:

The following are suggested recommendation in order to minimize the problem:

1. The role of law enforcing authority is solely important. The use of safety helmet and belt must be enforced as well as strict rules regarding license issuing, ban of using mobile phone while driving, etc.

2. The Government must create public awareness to prevent road accidents by organizing seminars, road dramas, plays, etc. Moreover, mass behavior modification and education regarding road safety should be imparted from the school level.

3. Impose high fine by the government for driver breaking laws specially such as breaking the red traffic lights.
