QSO 680: Term Paper Guidelines and Grading Guide

Topic Summary

As I am in manufacturing I decided to go with the types of challenges that managing in manufacturing can face. I will focus on issues not limited to, project history, multi-level tasking, inventory, cost analyses, the project’s cost activity, assigning labor, project cloning, project reporting. My goal is to identify the cause and recommend solutions to such issue that a project manager can in manufacturing.

NOTE: Be careful of the distinction between a project and an on-going/operational process.

Main Elements

The main body of the term paper (excluding cover page, executive summary, table of contents, appendices, and references) should be between eight to ten pages (12 point Times Roman font with 1.5 line spacing). In Week 10, submit your term paper to the instructor through the TurnItIn item and also post on the discussion board for comments and discussion by the class. Supply references

Application Paper (Application of the concepts and techniques of project management to a real project)

The Application Paper would involve the application of the concepts and techniques of the project management to a real project you were involved with in the past or are currently involved with. Collect all possible information about the project and critically review the information in the light of what you have learned

about project management. Write the paper in your own words. If you copy and paste any quotes from the material, make sure to put those in quotation marks and provide reference. Add your own critical remarks to the paper.

NOTE: Write about different aspects of project management related to the selected project. A possible format to present information about the project is to follow the steps of the project life cycle. You must put the information in the context of what you have learned about project management in this course. Simply providing descriptive information about the project without discussing the management aspects of the project would be inadequate.
