Module Overview
Welcome to the second module of the course. In this module we will be examining the design of the supply chain and the importance of getting it right. As stated in module one, when done right SCM can be compared to a well-balanced and well-practiced relay team. In this module we are going to examine how to get the most from this "relay team" in terms of setting up the most efficient supply chain possible. Supply chains are quite often very complex and there are a lot of things that must be considered in their design. It entails not just the physical location of distribution centers and production plants, but also the distribution of information throughout the supply chain. As organizations shift from a centralized location of mass production to a more customer centric model of production, the supply chain will need to change also. This is what we will be taking a closer look at in this module, how to get the most out of your supply chain.
