In C1, you will identify a topic; in C-2 your will write a paper that provides critical discussion of that topic; and in C3 your group will develop a professional presentation that defines the topic and its related ethical issues. Before you begin C1, please read the descriptions for C1, C2 and C3 so that you will have the goals of all projects in mind as you select your topic.
In this C1 assignment, you will prepare a 1-2 page paper in which you identify the topic you intend to use in C2 and may be chosen by your group for C3. In addition, you will develop 3 critical questions that you intend to address in C2 and identify initial references for C2. You will:
· Select a new or emerging technology
· Explain briefly (1 paragraph) why you selected this topic
· Develop 3 (no more or less than 3) critically important questions that address ethical issues that have been or may arise from the implementation of this new or emerging technology
· Provide a brief (1-2 sentences) why these questions are important
· Identify at least 3 proposed references that you intend to use for your C2 paper (2 of these must be selected from UMUC library resources)
Remember: the emphasis on this paper is on the ethical issue(s) that are created with new digital technology and its use! Do not write about how the technology works, but how it affects society from an ethical viewpoint.
· Select a new or emerging technology – the technology may be general in nature, but you should focus your questions on specific issues. You may select a more specific topic, but it must be related to an new /emerging technology.
This list identifies very general technologies that you may use as a starting point and some new/emerging technologies within them. You can further refine the topics as you see fit (example, you may choose Communications, social networking – using social networking for hiring and monitoring employees.)
