Develop Customer Records

What it offers

New Applications

New Software

Increased Storage

Hardware Updates

Wider Networks

Read: In the Cloud computing system we will offer Riordan the following in order for them to be successful.

Wider Networks- This means that they will not be limited to only one network when getting their product out there

Hardware Updates- The Cloud system will allow for those that are assigned to IT portion of the company to update the companies hardware system without any problems.

New Applications- Cloud computing will allow our company access to update Riodan system with new applications that will allow them to be more productive in their business needs.

New Software- In the Cloud Computing would be to make sure that the system is up to date on any software that is needed for the system to run properly.

Security- The system would have access to the latest security updates due to the fact that they are on the Cloud computing system which will allow our company to have access to the system and software.

Develop Customer Records- In the Cloud system it will allow all sales people the ability to set up new customers along with information about their billing and how to ship their product.

Increased Storage- In Cloud Computing Riordan will not be limited on the amount of storage that they have available for storing information.

Description of Cloud Computing

Private data warehouse (Private Cloud)

Warehouse becomes center of Information

Each desktop computer and mobile device becomes satellites to the warehouse

A back and forth channeling of Information between warehouse and devices

A back and forth channeling of Information between organizational divisions

Read:

We propose Riordan uses a Private Cloud. There information will be stored in it’s own data warehouse.

The warehouse becomes the nucleus for all the information flow providing instant retrieval of information from any department.

Where the warehouse is the nucleus of the information, the computers and mobile devices are the electrons and protons operating around the nucleus. Much like satellite orbit the earth. From these satellites information can be accessed from the warehouse.

The flow of information between the warehouse and devices is two way.

As with the information, immediate communication can go to the warehouse or to any division.

Business Requirements

Reduction in IT cost

Reduction in Production cost

Increase in Manufacturing Productivity

Increase Efficiency with Inventory

Improved communications between manufacturing divisions

Improved decision making

Improved flow of Information

Riordan maintenance to current IT system is high.

Riordan’s manufacturing production is antiquated and costly to run.

Riordan looks to increase production with better IT and more efficient manufacturing process.

Riordan’s Inventory system is antiquated and need of an overhaul.

There is lack of communication integration in Riordan’s current Information System.

Decisions are made on outdated or delayed information causing efficiency in the manufacturing process.

Information along the supply chain and with the organization is slow.

Information used in System

Scheduled Orders and Shipping Documents

Raw Materials Received

Vendors and Quantity

Raw Material Usage

Products produced: Final Product & Sub Assemblies

Inventory Usage

Final Products & Sub-assemblies returned to Inventory

Sales Order Forms and Orders Received

Billing System

Riordan handles numerous scheduled orders and shipping documents on a daily basis.

Riordan receives an extreme amount of raw materials daily.

Riordan works with many Vendors. Quantity of raw materials are entered into the information system.

The tonnage raw material usage is high. It is entered and analyzed along with created waste from production.

Riordan produces many products. The high number of these are tracked.

Materials taken from Inventory are tracked.

The numerous sub-assemblies and final products are placed in Inventory to wait shipping. Each product is tracked.

The countless sales are made by Riordan. Each order received on a custom order form via the company website is entered.

Riordan’s has a complex billing system.

Security & Ethical Concerns

Iron Cloud

Data Ownership

Data Access

Read: Providing Riordan with the utmost security is our top concern.

6

Information Flow of the Supply Chain

Information Flow

Supplier

Sub Supplier

Distributors

Customers

Read: Cloud Computing allows for immediate information for all participants of the supply chain.

7

Current Process

Receiving checks incoming material orders manually

Receiving information is logged in at the end of the shift

Materials used in Manufacturing are manually entered

Manufactured products are manually entered into Inventory

Sale orders come by phone or fax

Sale orders are manually entered into Shipping & Billing systems

Inventory System is manually updated

Receiving supervisor has print out of incoming shipping order. He/she checks it against shipping document to see if they match. This information is then entered into the inventory system.

At the end of each shift Receiving supervisor enters the log of all materials received. This data includes type of materials, the vendor and quantity.

As materials are pulled from Inventory, the inventory clerk enters this material.

As sub-assemblies and final products are completed they are sent into Inventory. There the clerk enters the data into the inventory system.

Office employees takes orders by phone or fax.

Sales staff place orders in Customer Shipping and Billing System, producing shipping documents.

Each day shipping documents are generated. The inventory clerk manually enters data.

8

Process Changes for the System

Receiving checks incoming material orders automated

Receiving information is instantly available to all divisions

Automated data entry on Materials used in Manufacturing

Automated data entry on Products manufactured in Inventory

Sale orders can come through Riordan web site

Sale Orders are automated

Inventory updates will automated

Incoming shipping documents will be barcoded. The bar code of the shipping document will match that of the scheduled order. This saves the receiving supervisor from cross checking forms. This is quicker and takes out the element of human error.

The receiving supervisor scans the incoming order, the information is automatically loaded into the Inventory system for all divisions to view.

As materials are pulled from Inventory they can be scanned. Again this information is loaded into the Inventory system for all divisions to view.

As sub-assemblies and final products are produced they can be given a bar code. As the products make their way from Manufacturing to Inventory they can be scanned. This information is automatically loaded into the system.

Customers can place orders from the company website free up sales staff.

These orders can go straight to shipping streamlining the sales process.

As products are removed from Inventory to Shipping, they can be scanned. The information is loaded into the system where all divisions can view.

9

Information Flow within Manufacturing Division

Sales Department

Shipping

Inventory

Receiving

Read: With cloud computing information concerning the manufacturing process can be accessed by all divisions. Once information has been entered any division can access it immediately cutting down in informational delays which ultimately affects decisions made in Manufacturing.

10

Internet and Mobile Access

Internet

Mobile Devices

Computers

Read: Riordan will have access to mobile devices, Internet, and computers due to the cloud computing which will allow them to be more flexible in how they acquire accounts or getting merchandise out to customers within a timely manner.

The Future of Riordan Cloud

Cloud Computing allows for complete automation in manufacturing process

Cloud Computing tracks all raw material received, inventoried and used
