For the Unit 3 IP, below are the specific questions and my expectations:

    (1) Describe the mental state of the sniper since the three shootings have occurred in which he killed the offenders.

**Examine the sniper's mental status, including appearance, attitude, behavior, mood and affect, speech, thought process, thought content, perception, cognition, insight, and judgment.

    (2) Articulate two of the possible personality disorders or afflictions that the sniper has that are interfering with his work.

**Based on information and knowledge gathered from the DSM, course text, Live Chats, course Learning Materials, and other scholarly sources, determine TWO possible mental disorders affecting the sniper. Discuss your rationale.

    (3) Explain whether, if the sniper would get the treatment needed, he might be able to return to his duties as a sniper, or possibly back to regular uniformed duties.

**Discuss the following: (a) whether psychological treatment will likely restore the sniper's relationship with his spouse, (b) that the sniper should be removed from the SWAT team, but there is no reason he could not return to active patrol once cleared by mental health professionals, and (c) whether you think the sniper may be resentful of being identified as having a problem.

    (4) Relate how treatment of the sniper would benefit him as an individual in terms of his interpersonal relationships and his own safety.

**Given the TWO possible diagnoses you chose for the sniper in Question #2, address the value and benefit to treating the sniper with both psychotherapy and psychotropic medications. Explain specific types of therapy and medications appropriate for the selected disorders.
