Profiling

1.      What are the key features? List the key features for profiles and define them in your own words.

a.       An interesting subject: describing general or wonderful events, people, or places in an attractive way.

b.      Any necessary background: involving notifications about the desired topic (person, place, incident)

c.       An interesting angle: focusing on a specific point about the topic.

d.      A firsthand account: the writer needs to detect and consume time in or with the desired subject in order to know and collect good information.

e.       Engaging details: the writer needs to involve data the grasp the readers and make them feel the characteristics.

2.      Discussing one of the essays.

I chose “Drawn to a larger Scale” by Alex Williams. It was good profile. Focusing on how tattooing changed subject’s life and took him to a lot of places, and introduced him to many famous people was fascinating. However, I think that he should have included the subject background in the beginning. It was a bit confusing for me in the first page. Then, when I read the second and third page, I figured out the profile.
