Academic integrity among university and college students is increasingly being undermined by exam cheating and plagiarism whereby students utilize advance technology with an aim of getting better grades. The article published in Journal of Experimental Education, ‘Reasons Not to Cheat, Academic-Integrity Responsibility, and Frequency of Cheating’, addresses academic integrity at the university level (Miller et.al, 2011).
In this article, students enrolled in higher institutions of learning should demonstrate academic integrity that leads to academic excellence. in addition to that, according to Argosy university ethical Code of Conduct, students are expected to behave in civil, professional and ethical manner and students who violate this code of conduct are subjected to disciplinary measures that include discontinuation from the university.( Blum, (March, 2009).
This article also addresses spirit of integrity and honesty, whereby it states that academic work submitted by students should reflect original work with scholarly citation. Any student who is found of academic dishonesty is subjected to the necessary disciplinary action by the university. Furthermore this article, clarifies that Argos University has put up student complaint procedure for students who feel they been given unfair results.
Generally, this article has a number of merits. For instance, it guides students on their obligation towards achieving academic excellence at the University. In addition to that, this article enumerates consequences of exam cheating and plagiarism to the student, hence, it promotes academic integrity among university students.
