Nutrition through the Lifecycle

Choose from one of the following scenarios for your final project.

A. Using MyPlate, design a day’s menu for a 5 year old boy or girl that loves to play soccer. Next, revise that menu for the same boy or girl at 15 years old. Finally, revise that menu for the same man or woman at 80 years old that now no longer play soccer but leads an active life.

B. Using MyPlate, design a day’s menu for a 5 year old boy or girl that loves to draw. Next, revise that menu for the same boy or girl at 15 years old. Finally, revise that menu for a sedentary man or woman at 80 years old.

C. Using MyPlate, design a day’s menu for an 8 year old boy or girl that is a competitive ice skater. Next, revise that menu for the same boy or girl at 16 years old who is still competing in ice skating at the national level. Finally, revise that menu for the same man or woman at 70 years old who still skates every day.

Please enter your menu for the selected scenario in the following tables following the example provided below. Be sure to indicate specific food items (eg, bread) and the amount (2 slices). Then, indicate the number of exchanges in each of the food groups for the food item (eg, 2 grains). If it is a mixed food item, like spaghetti and meatballs, enter the pasta and the meatballs in the appropriate food group columns (see the example below). You may choose not to use all snacks, and do not have to use all of the food groups at each meal or snack, unless you so choose. Make sure to refer to the appropriate MyPlate diagrams in the text to determine the nutritional needs for the scenario that you choose.

Which scenario did you choose? Please put an X before the scenario.
