Introduction
In the early childhood development stage, quality skills are required by the preschool teacher or the ECD professionals. This is very necessary if the child is to have a good growth. It is very necessary for the future preschool teachers to incorporate these skills so as to achieve success in the early childhood development (McCartney, 2006). There are also various necessary qualities and behaviors that are needed in early childhood development that every preschool teacher should learn. Early childhood development refers to the changes that occur in the human from the time of birth up to the time when adolescence end. In this stage, it incorporates the behavioral changes in the child. It also involves the physiological changes that occur in the children. The preschool teacher has to hence incorporate various skills for the success of her teaching.
Moreover, the early childhood development also involves the biological changes that occur in the children between the time of birth and the period where the adolescence age ends. The infants are born when their skills are very low. It is hence the work of the preschool teachers to improve these skills in the child’s life. They have also limited abilities hence much need to be done so as to improve their skills and abilities. In the early childhood development, one learned the way the child lives and hence shapes their development skills (Trawick-Smith, 2003). A good shaping leads to the success of the early childhood development program. There are the many important skills required by the preschool teachers for the success of their teaching programs.
The preschool teachers should always be friendly to the children. The teacher should ensure that they have a good relationship with the children all the time. This is best done especially if the teacher becomes kind to the children (Trawick-Smith, 1997). She should never discriminate a child or talk to the child in a rude or harsh manner. The preschool teacher should carry herself in a good and proper manner. She should also listen a lot to what the children have to say each and every time. This is very necessary since the child is able to notice that the teacher is giving them attention. The teacher should hence respect the children need every time. This is very necessary as the child find it easy to communicate with the bigger people.
The preschool teacher should always ensure that the child is always at a good attitude. This is very necessary for the success of the early childhood development. It is always notable that a child in the early stages tends to refuse to get close to other people. With the help of the preschool teacher in the early childhood development, the child gains these relevant and important skills (Trawick-Smith, 1997). This is very necessary for a child since it improves his or her social aspect of life. It is hence very important for preschool teacher to ensure that the child can interact with others in the school, home and other places. This comes along with many advantages to the child. The child gains much confidence and is able to express him or herself in front of people. This can be done by the teacher in engaging the children in talks and simple discussions. In this case, the teacher should always be jovial to the children too.
The preschool teacher should also be very intelligent. This makes her teach new things to the children a lot. This in return is very helpful to the children during the early childhood stage. In this, the skills of the preschool teacher are very imp[ortant in the learning of the child. The preschool teacher should also be persuasive. This means that the teacher can persuade the kid in any way especially in doing the right thing. Intelligence and persuasive skills are very necessary to every preschool teacher.
Communication skills are also very important for the preschool teacher for the success of the early childhood development. This is very important. They are an example of the social skills required in the success of early childhood development. Through this, the preschool teacher is able to interact well with the children in their early stages of their childhood. Their social aspect of communication would enable the teacher help the child to grow with a good interaction skill that will be void of aggressive behaviors. The skills are very necessary since they give the child a good and healthy relationship with other people.
The preschool teacher should also be very patient. She should not be the type to get angry very quickly. This makes the child have a cold behavior towards the teacher. In this case, the preschool teacher will not be able to have a smooth teaching in the school (Trawick-Smith, 1997). It is hence very relevant for the teacher to acquire this great skill so as to be fit in teaching the children. The children would also be afraid of the preschool teacher. The preschool teacher should ensure that she cultivates good skills
The preschool teacher should also be very calm always. This is very necessary if the teacher is willing to be a perfect preschool teacher in the future. This will improve their ability to handle the small kids in their early childhood years. These skills are also very important for any ECD teacher who plans to do this work.
The preschool teachers should be very helpful too. This skill makes her a very good teacher. The children would be very glad if their teacher is helpful. In this, the preschool teacher gets to assist the children a lot. This is very necessary even for the ECE teachers (Trawick-Smith, 1997). They cultivate these very important skills that are very necessary during their future teaching in the school.
Conclusion
It is very important hence to give the child a good and healthy early childhood development stage. These wouyld only be achieved if the ECE teachers and the preschool teachers have attained the required and necessary skills. With this, the child grows to be very successful in the future (McCartney, 2006). It is hence the responsibility of the parents, teachers and all other people to ensure that every child has a successful early childhood development stage, but it is the highest responsibility for the ECE and the preschool teachers to help the children through this important stage through these skills discussed above.
