Independent Project 3-4 For this project, you modify the Tips for Better Heart Rate Monitor Training document from the American River Cycling Club. You insert and modify endnotes, insert placeholders, create sources, insert a bibliography page, bookmark selected text, and use custom headers and footers.

1. Open the HeartRateMonitorTraining-03 start file.

NOTE: If the document opens in Protected View, click the Enable Editing button in the Message Bar at

the top of the document so you can modify it.

2. The file will be renamed automatically to include your name. Change the file name if directed to do

so by your instructor, and save it.

3. Insert endnotes.

a. Insert an endnote at the end of the first paragraph on the first page.

b. In the endnote area, type See the bibliography for related books and articles.

c. Insert an endnote at the end of the first sentence in the “Analyze Your Heart Rate Data” section.

d. In the endnote area, type See the ARCC web site (www.arcc.org) for information about

specific heart rate monitors.

e. Insert an endnote at the end of the second sentence of the second paragraph in the

“Comparing Heart Rate Values with Others” section.

f. In the endnote area, type 220-age is a rough estimate of maximum heart rate.

4. Insert placeholders for citations

a. Place the insertion point at the end of the last sentence and before the period in the “Know Your

Resting Heart Rate” section.

b. Insert a placeholder named VeloNews.

c. Place the insertion point at the end of the last sentence and before the period in the “Perform a

Threshold Test” section.

d. Insert a placeholder named Burke.

e. Place the insertion point at the end of the last sentence and before the period in the “Analyze

Your Heart Rate Data” section.

f. Insert a placeholder named Chapple.

g. Place the insertion point at the end of the last sentence and before the period in the “A Heart

Rate Monitor Is Not Effective for Anaerobic Intervals” section.

h. Insert the Chapple placeholder.

5. Use the Source Manager dialog box to provide source information for the three placeholders.

a. Edit the VeloNews placeholder to include the following information:

6. Change the style of the report to APA Sixth Edition.

7. Convert all endnotes to footnotes and change the footnote number format to A, B, C.

8. Insert a bibliography at the end of the document.

a. Insert a page break at the end of the document.

b. Insert the built-in References page on the last page.

c. Center the References heading.

9. Insert a bookmark for selected text.

a. Select the “Perform a Threshold Test” heading on the first page and insert a bookmark.

b. Name the bookmark LactateThreshold.

10. Create a hyperlink to a bookmark

a. On the first page, select “maximum heart rate” in the first paragraph (third sentence).

b. Insert a hyperlink to the LactateThreshold bookmark.

11. Add the following text to the document properties.

12. Insert a cover page.

a. Insert the Ion (Dark) built-in cover page.

b. In the Year field, select the current date.

c. Delete the Subtitle and Author fields.

Note: To ensure accurate grading, you must complete steps 12. c. correctly. Check your

work carefully.

d. In the Address field, type www.arcc.org.

e. Select the Title field, change the font size to 40 pt., apply bold formatting, and align center.

13. Insert a header and footer.

a. In the header of the second page, type Page, space once, and insert a plain page number in

the current position.

b. Right align the header information.

c. In the footer, type American River Cycling Club on the left and www.arcc.org on the right

(use tabs to align the text on the right).

d. Change the font size of the information in the header and footer to 10 pt.

e. Apply a ½ pt. top and bottom Black, Text 1 border to the information in the footer.

f. No header or footer should appear on the cover page.

14. Insert page breaks where necessary to keep headings on the same page with the text that follows.

15. Save and close the document (Figure 3-102).

16. Upload and save your project file.

17. Submit your project.
