Improve It Project 3-7 American River Cycling Club is working with a cycling tour company to set up a trip to cycle through the Tuscany region of Italy. The original document from the cycling tour company needs to be improved. Modify this document to remove some of the existing content and add a cover page, footnotes, bookmarks, and a footer.

1. Open the ItalyTourItinerary-03 start file.
NOTE: If the document opens in Protected View, click the Enable Editing button in the Message
Bar at the top of the document so you can modify it.
2. The file will be renamed automatically to include your name. Change the file name if directed to do
so by your instructor, and save it.
3. Removing existing content.
a. Remove the existing cover page.
b. Remove the existing table of contents.
c. Remove the existing headers and footers on all pages of the itinerary.
d. Delete the existing bookmark in the document.
4. Change the page orientation to Landscape.
5. Apply the Day style to each of the day headings in the itinerary.
6. Insert page breaks.
a. Click in front of “Day 3” and insert a page break.
b. Repeat this on each of the odd numbered days so only two days appear on each page.
7. Add text and apply style.
a. Place your insertion point on the blank line after the text in “Day 2” section.
b. Press Enter and type Notes and Questions at the insertion point. c. Apply Day style to the text you just typed.
d. Repeat steps b and c to insert this information at the end of “Day 4” and “Day 6.” Repeat steps
b and c to insert this information at the end of “Day 8,” after the Kilometers to Miles Conversion
information.
8. Insert a bookmark for selected text.
a. On the last page, select the text beginning with “Kilometers to Miles Conversion” to “49.6 miles.”
b. Insert a bookmark named kmConversion for the selected text.
9. Insert hyperlinks to a bookmark.
a. On the first page in the “Day 2” section, select “Distance: 83 km” (don’t select the paragraph
mark) and insert a hyperlink to the kmConversion bookmark.
b. Repeat this on each of the other riding days of the tour. Don’t select the footnote after
“Day 3” distance.
c. Test the hyperlink on page 1. It should take you to bookmarked text on page 4.

10. Move and delete footnotes.
a. Move the first footnote (after the distance on “Day 3”) to appear after the distance on “Day 2.”
b. Change the footnote text to Day 2 is the longest day of the tour. c. Delete the second footnote reference marker after “Day 4.” The footnote text is removed when
you delete the footnote reference marker.
11. Insert footnotes.
a. After the “Day 4” distance, insert a footnote and type Day 4 is an optional riding day.
b. After the “Day 5” distance, insert a footnote and type Day 5 has two routes from which to
choose.
c. After the “Day 6” distance, insert a footnote and type Day 6 has three routes from which to
choose. The 68 km route has a couple of substantial climbs. 12. Edit the following document properties.

13. Insert and modify a cover page.
a. Insert the Semaphore cover page.
b. Select next June 15 as the date.
c. Change the font size of the Title field to 32 pt.
d. Delete the Subject (Document Subtitle) and Author fields.
e. Change the font size of the Company field to 14 pt.
f. In the Address field, type www.arcc.org.
14. Insert footers on the second and continuing pages
a. On the second page of the document, edit the footer.
b. Change the alignment to right, insert the Company document property field, deselect the field,
and space once.
c. Type |(vertical line; Shift+\) and space once.
d. Type Page followed by a space. e. Insert a plain page number in the current position.
f. Bold all of the text in the footer.
15. Save and close the document (Figure 3-106).
16. Upload and save your project file.
17. Submit your project.
