Guided Project 3-1 One of the community colleges in the Sierra Pacific Community College District has finished construction of a new building for its business program. A dedication ceremony and open house is planned. In this project, you finalize the presentation for this special program and prepare a kiosk presentation to be displayed on monitors throughout the building while people tour after the opening ceremony. You save the standard slide size version in Part A and then change to a widescreen version in Part B. This project has been modified for use in SIMnet®.

Part B When you are finished with this project, your presentation should contain
9 slides. If it does not, your project will not grade properly and you may lose a
significant number of points
1. Open the presentation Dedication-03b start file.
NOTE: If the document opens in Protected View, click the Enable Editing button
in the Message Bar at the top of the document so you can modify it.
2. The file will be renamed automatically to include your name. Change the
project file name if directed to do so by your instructor, and save it.
3. Deselect the After timings [Transitions tab, Timing group] and click
Apply To All.
4. Click the Slide Size button [Design tab, Customize
group] and click Widescreen (16:9) (Figure 3-72).
The slide size has changed from 10" to 13.333"
wide.
5. Reposition objects on the following slides to fit the
widescreen size:
a. Slide 1: Right-align the text box.
b. Slide 2: Move the slide title to the left to match
other slide titles.
c. Slide 7: Right-align both text boxes
(Figure 3-73).
d. Slide 8: Move the text at the top of the slide to
the left. Right-align the text box. e. Slide 9: Move the slide title to the left to match
other slide titles.
6. Use Presenter View to review your presentation.
a. Click the Slide Show tab.
b. Click Use Presenter View [Monitors group].
c. Start your presentation.
If you have two monitors, click the From
Beginning button [Start Slide Show group].
If you have one monitor, press Alt+F5.

d. Click the Presenter View right arrow button to advance slides as you review them.
e. Click the Zoom into the slide button to magnify a section of the slide. Click Zoom Out to return
to the normal slide size (Figure 3-74).
f. Click the See all slides button to view thumbnails of all slides. Click to display different slides.
g. Press Esc to exit Presenter View.
7. In Slide Show view, practice use of navigation tools, keyboard shortcuts, and blanking slides.
a. Click the right arrow button in the slide navigation area to advance slides.
b. Click the Menu button in the slide navigation area to open the shortcut menu and go to a
specific slide.
c. Right-click to open the shortcut menu and go to a specific slide.
d. Press N to advance to the next slide; press P to go to the previous slide.
e. Type 6 and press Enter to go to slide 6.
f. Press B to blank a slide; press B to view the screen again.
8. Prepare a kiosk presentation with looping.
a. Select the After timing [Transitions tab, Timing group] and click Apply To All so timings will be
available for the kiosk presentation.
b. On slides 1 and 7, select each animated object and change Start [Animations tab, Timing group]
to After Previous.
c. Click the Set Up Slide Show button [Slide Show tab, Set Up group] to open the Set Up Show
dialog box.
d. Select the following settings:
For Show type, select Browsed at a kiosk (full screen).
For Show options, Loop continuously until ‘Esc’ is automatically selected for a kiosk.
For Show slides, select All.
For Advance slides, Use timings, if present is automatically selected for a kiosk.
e. Select the appropriate monitor.
f. Click OK.
9. Test the presentation to make sure slide transitions and animations work correctly.
10. Save and close the presentation (Figure 3-75).
11. Upload and save
your project file.
12. Submit project for
grading.
