Guided Project 3-1 One of the community colleges in the Sierra Pacific Community College District has finished construction of a new building for its business program. A dedication ceremony and open house is planned. In this project, you finalize the presentation for this special program and prepare a kiosk presentation to be displayed on monitors throughout the building while people tour after the opening ceremony. You save the standard slide size version in Part A and then change to a widescreen version in Part B. This project has been modified for use in SIMnet®.

Part A When you are finished with this project, your presentation should contain 9 slides. If it does not, your project

will not grade properly and you may lose a significant number of points.

1. Open the presentation Dedication-03a start file, which has a standard size (4:3 aspect ratio, 10 x 7.5").

NOTE: If the document opens in Protected View, click the Enable Editing button in the Message Bar

at the top of the document so you can modify it.

2. The file will be renamed automatically

to include your name. Change the

project file name if directed to do so by

your instructor, and save it.

3. Apply a background picture fill with a

softened effect to all slides.

a. Right-click to open the shortcut

menu. Click Format Background to

open the Format Background pane.

b. Select the Picture or texture fill

option.

c. Click the Online button to open the

Insert Pictures dialog box.

d. In the Office.com Clip Art search

box, type the word building

and click the Search button

(or press Enter).

e. Select the picture, “Office building with reflection” shown in Figure 3-67 and click Insert. If you

cannot find this picture, insert a picture of your choice.

f. Click the Picture button at the top of the pane and then click Picture Color. Click the Recolor list

arrow and select Blue, Accent color 2, Dark.

g. Click Apply to All so this slide is used as the background for all slides.

4. On slides 1 and 2, restore the background picture to its original color. On the Format Background pane

under Picture Color, click the Reset button for each slide.

5. On slide 2, delete the subtitle placeholder and move the title down slightly (Figure 3-68).

6. On slide 6, change the background color to black.

a. On the Format Background pane, click Fill at

the top of the pane if it is not selected. Select

the Solid fill option.

b. Click the Color list arrow and select Black, Background 1.

c. Close the Format Background pane.

7. Select slide 2 and press Ctrl+D to duplicate. Move the new slide to the end of the presentation so it

becomes slide 9. Change the slide 9 title text to Take a Tour.

8. Apply a transition to all slides.

a. Click the Transitions tab and apply the Shape transition.

b. Click the Effect Options button and select Diamond.

c. Click Apply to All [Timing group] (Figure 3-69).

9. Apply animation on four slides and change effect options as shown in the following table.

a. Select the text or object to be animated.

b. Click the More button on the Animation gallery. If the Animation gallery is not displayed, click the

Add Animation button [Animations tab, Advanced Animation group].

c. Click an effect to apply it.

d. Click the Effects Options button [Animations group] to apply Direction, Sequence, or

Amount settings.

e. Adjust settings for Start and Duration.

f. Click the Preview button or Slide Show button to test the animation.

10. Prepare speaker notes on two slides.

a. Click the Notes Page button [View tab, Presentation Views group].

b. Click the Zoom button and increase the Percent to 150% so you can more easily see

the text. Click OK.

c. Add the following text with a blank line between each item on two notes pages (Figure 3-70):

Slide 1: Welcome the audience.

Review today’s agenda - go through animation.

Slide 9: The tours will now begin and last until 4 p.m.

Student leaders are available outside this auditorium to guide small groups.

Or tour on your own.

d. Click the Normal button to return to Normal view.

11. Set up notes pages for slides 4 and 5.

a. Click the File tab and click Print.

b. For Slides, type 4–5 to print a Custom Range.

c. For Print Layout, choose Notes Pages and check Scale to Fit Paper (Figure 3-71).

d. Close Print Preview window.

12. Rehearse and save timings.

a. Click the Rehearse Timings button [Slide Show tab, Set Up group].

b. Using the Recording dialog box, click the Next Slide button to advance each slide after

approximately 3–5 seconds.

c. At the end of your presentation, click Yes to save your timings. The timings are displayed

below each slide in Slide Show view.

13. Save the presentation to preserve the current standard (4:3) slide size.

14. Upload and save your project file.

15. Submit project for grading.
