Guided Project 1-2 Solution Seekers, Inc., a management consulting firm, is preparing a series of brief presentations to be used in a training program for new hires. For this project, you develop a presentation about how to get better results when writing email messages. This project has been modified for use in SIMnet®.

When you are finished with this project, your presentation should contain 6 slides. If it does not, your project

will not grade properly and you may lose a significant number of points.

1. Open and rename a presentation. a. Open the EmailResults-01 start file.

NOTE: If the document opens in Protected View, click the Enable Editing button in the Message Bar

at the top of the document so you can modify it.

b. The file will be renamed automatically to include your

name. Change the project file name if directed to do so

by your instructor. Press F12 to open the Save As dialog

box and save this.

2. On slide 2, change the bullets to emphasize them more.

a. Select the bulleted text.

b. Click the Bullets list arrow [Home tab, Paragraph group].

c. Select Bullets and Numbering.

d. Click the Color button and select Brown, Text 2

(Figure 1-91).

e. Change the size to 80% of text.

f. Click the Customize button and change the font (if

necessary) to Wingdings 2 (Figure 1-92).

g. Select the bold X (Character code 211) and click OK to

close the Symbol dialog box.

h. Click OK again to close the Bullets and Numbering

dialog box.

3. Reuse slides from another presentation.

a. Click the New Slide list arrow and select Reuse Slides.

b. On the Reuse Slides pane, click Browse; then select

Browse file and locate the resources folder downloaded

from the Resources link.

c. Select the presentation EmailContent-01 and click

Open. (This presentation has spelling errors that you

will fix later.)

Note: Download the resource file(s) needed for this

project from the Resources link. Make sure to extract the

file(s) after downloading the resources zipped folder.

d. On the Reuse Slides pane (Figure 1-93), click all four slides to

insert them.

e. Close the Reuse Slides pane.

4. On the Slides tab, rearrange the six slides in this order: “Getting Results with Email,” “Ask These Questions,” “Why?,” “Write a Meaningful Subject

Line,” “Organize It!,” and “Keep It Short.”

5. Click the Spelling button [Review tab, Proofing group] and correct each

of the spelling errors.

6. Use the Format Painter to change bullets.

a. On slide 2, select the body placeholder with the bulleted text.

b. Double-click the Format Painter button [Home tab, Clipboard group]

so you can apply what you have copied more than

one time.

c. Press Page Down and click the list on slide 3 to apply the change for

the first-level bullets.

d. Repeat for slides 4 and 5.

e. Press Esc to end formatting.

7. On slide 3, move the picture down so it does not

overlap the listed text.

8. On slide 6, use a different picture and adjust

text position. a. Delete the picture on the right.

b. Click the Insert tab; then click the Pictures

button.

c. Locate the resources file downloaded from the

Resources link.

d. Select AtSymbol-01.jpg and click Insert to

insert the picture.

e. Adjust the size of the title and subtitle placeholders to fit the text; then position them both on the

gold shape.

f. Align the picture, title, and

subtitle as shown in Figure 1-94.

9. Apply one transition to all slides.

a. Click the Slide Sorter button

[Status bar].

b. Press Ctrl+A to select all slides.

c. Click the Transitions tab.

d. Click the Switch transition from

the gallery.

10. Change the movement direction.

a. With all slides selected, click

Effect Options [Transition tab, Transition to This Slide group]

(Figure 1-95). Select Left.

11. Preview the presentation.

a. Click Preview [Transitions tab] to examine the movements in Slide Sorter view.

b. Click off a slide to remove the selections.

c. Click the Slide Show button [Status bar] and advance through the slides to see the movements in

Slide Show view.

12. Change some of the presentation properties. a. Click the File tab, then the Info button.

b. Click the Properties button; then click Show Document Panel. Type this information in the

respective fields.

Author: Your Name (unless it already appears)

Title: Getting Results with Email (already entered)

Subject: Writing

Comments: This presentation is for the new hire seminar.

c. Click the Close button to close the Document Properties panel.

13. Set slides to print as a handout.

a. Click the File tab, then the Print button on the left.

b. Select the appropriate printer.

c. Change the following Settings by clicking the button list arrow for each option:

Which Slides to Print: Print All Slides

What to Print: Handouts, 6 Slides Horizontal, Frame Slides, Scale to Fit Paper

Print Order: Collated

Orientation: Portrait

Color Range: Grayscale (or

Color if you prefer)

d. Click the back arrow of the

Backstage view to return to the

presentation.

14. Save and close the presentation

(Figure 1-96).

15. Upload and save your project file.
